Washi Tape Monogram ArtMy washi tape obsession continues. As you will see in tomorrow’s post where I tour my hallway (it is a very special hallway), I needed an update for three monogram pieces I printed a while back. They were okay, but nothing beats the playful, creative look of washi tape. I stopped by my local Collage craft supply store and chose a selection of black and white patterned tape. Here is my simple tutorial on how to make your own framable monograms. Though I made these with black and white tape, the possibilities are endless. I can see a colorful design for a kid’s bedroom, something in pale patterns for a new baby’s room or an elegant version for the bride and groom. What a great personal gift. For my monograms I started with an Ikea Ribba frame with the 4.5×6.5 mat opening. I then printed the outline only of thick block letters would fit inside this space onto a card stock. I chose a cream card stock to be my background for the final washi covered letters in a similar color to the mat. Just follow my tutorial below to see how I formed the tape around the card stock letters, both straight and curved. You may also find pre-cut letters at a craft store that would work well for this project. Now go play with your washi tape! ~ Lia
