Dancing Daffodils!
Daffodils are such an honest, innocent flower aren’t they? My front garden is full of them this time of year and for me those pretty yellow petals encircling that bright trumpet cone just scream “Spring Is Here!” I haven’t shared a daffodil tutorial before and in developing this project I wanted to share something that was easy to achieve by everyone, no matter what your level of skill or size of your craft stash. All you’ll need to make your own crepe paper daffodils is a couple of rolls of paper, floral wire, floral tape, scissors and glue – simple!
Let’s Get Started
Today’s flower is made from crepe paper. I’ve chosen a bright green for the leaves a deep yellow for the inside of the the flower. Those pale yellow petals made from an Eggnow color encircling the rich golden cup center add an extra dose of cheer to this popular bloom. You can swap the yellows around on a few of the blooms just to add a little extra interest. I’ve potted my daffodils which makes this project great to make for a friend or just to pop on your windowsill to brighten up the room. You could just as easily place them in your favorite vase instead. However you choose to make your own crepe paper daffodils I know you’ll find this tutorial simple to follow and easy to achieve. Crepe paper is wonderful to work with and can be easily manipulated with your fingers. My only piece of advice would be to use a really good sharp pair of scissors so that you’re getting a nice, clean line in your paper and use a low temp glue gun.

Leave a Commentso excited i am very new to this, i want to make a spring wreath, just joined as a member and am planning on using the boxwood wreath as my base of wreathto add flowers. i am going off on a idea you have using same boxwood wreath with flowers. my question is how do i make the flower so it will go on wreath friendly? . still using the wire? or way to glue the inside yellow to petals with out the wire? also do you have any frosted daisies flower svg? i did not notice them only a kit i saw. thanks!!
Welcome, Tina! The best method is to use the wire, and wrap it around the wreath form. You can glue it on as well but the wire method will likely hold best. I have been a member for almost a year and enjoy doing most of the projects however all of your information prints out very light. I thought it was my ink cartridge but have a brand new cartridge and printing is still very pale. Also I would like to be able to print out instructions without all the comments included. It takes up way too much paper. 25 sheets until I stopped the document in the printer queue. Love the daffodils, am off to make more.
Sorry to hear this! Ours print a nice dark gray so I’m not sure what the issue is, perhaps it’s your printer settings? It could be set to print draft/light to preserve ink. Unfortunately I can’t do anything about printing the post with comments onto a smaller number of pages, it’s again just a printer setting/default and how the website prints. I’m happy to hear you love the daffodils though– thanks for sticking with us despite printer issues!!

Just wanted to pass on a hint regarding scissors. My poor arthritic hands don’t like
regular scissors anymore, but they do well with the Fiskars Microtip #5. I have used
them for years, and they stay very sharp. Believe me, I do not treat them very well!!
OK, back to my daffodils. Tsk, Tsk, Lia, you have me hooked on Carte Fini crepe paper!!
I still LOVE the Italian crepe and will continue to use it. My new crepe is “extra fine” so it will be perfect for different projects. Fiskers ARE my favorite scissors, though I like the look of the Japanese photos for the photos. We are working with Fiskers now. Book. . . back burner. The site and new “craft school” videos (coming in May) are top priority now.

Love your crepe paper flowers! Is there anyway you can post the petal and leaf sizes so that those of us that view your site without a home computer can still replicate your flowers? The templates are great but I have no way of printing them out. Thank you!
Each petal is approximately 2.14″ long and the width is tapered, the leaves are about 11.75″ long and tapered. the inside pieces are 1.25″ height. Having the template will definitely make it easier, maybe you can print at your local library or office supply store. Happy crafting!

Hi Lisa, the crepe flower are so beautiful. But the crepe paper are expensive. I always buy crepe wraps many years ago. I made gold crepe roses for 50th Annivesary. My mother in law bought thru Hallmark Party at NYC. Now it was no longer Today is changing. I like crepe wraps instead of rolls. It is very expensive. I want to share with you. I hail from the UK and love daffodils – I only just saw them for the first time here in the US this March – in our local supermarket – talk about excitement, LOL!
I have some French vanilla and lots of cream, I might try inking it to make a darker shade. Fingers crossed!
