Bedroom TourWelcome back to my home tour! Today I am going to share my bedroom. I have been busy finishing up all of the details for this room all week. You may remember my envelope pillow tutorial and the back tab curtains post just a few days ago. When I look at where I’m at in my own home design, I have to laugh a little at how much my aesthetic has changed. Five years ago, I was all about modern and sleek and now I want to surround myself with a vintage artistic vibe. These are total opposites, yet I do love mixing them together in each room of my home. With this new perspective I have designed a French inspired bedroom. I love the feeling of heartful coziness when I am in the room. Another shift for me is that I am known for my use of bold color. It was just about a year ago after looking at my home decor Pinterest board that I realized I was pinning white and beige. . . again and again. So, I went for it and designed a very creamy beige room with a hint of aqua. Take a tour of the photos and I will give you the details of my comfy DIY, upcycled and found object room.

I have used this color in several homes and it is one of my favorites.
CURTAINS: DIY Linen Curtains. You can view the full tutorial in this post.
CHANDELIER & BEDSIDE LAMPS: I found all three of these on Craigslist.
HEADBOARD: This is my only piece of modern furniture in this room. I had it custom made by a local furniture shop years ago, in trade for a logo design. You can find a similar headboard at West Elm.
BEDSIDE TABLES: These were a flea market find and are an early 80’s era. I refinished them with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint and clear wax in the Old White. I added the crystal pulls that I bought from Amazon.
LONGBOY DRESSER: I found this piece at a local second hand store for a steal. It was quite manly looking before I gave it the Annie Sloan Chalk Paint makeover and new crystal knobs purchased on Amazon.
LINGERIE CHEST: This is a piece that my father made for me many years ago. It is cedar lined and well made, so I had to ask for his blessing before I gave it a Chalk Paint wash finish.
PILLOW: These are also DIY. You can see the tutorial for the envelope pillow cover and zipper pillow cover by clicking the links.
DUVET COVERS: Both of these duvet covers were purchased at West Elm. They have the best at a great price in my opinion.
MANNEQUIN FORMS: These were both Craigslist finds, the smaller I refinished by using decoupage to resurface the form with vintage sheet music.
FRAMED JEWELRY DISPLAY: This is a DIY and you can find the tutorial in this post.
ART: The large canvas is a work in progress where I used old sewing patterns, sheet music and embroidery patterns to fill the base of the piece. We will see how it transpires. The Eiffel Tower photo was a gift from one of my photographer friends. The Paris map was purchased at Paper Source and is a vintage reproduction on a sheet of gift wrap that I simply framed. The small square frame is three gold paper feathers which you can see here. The man’s portrait is a piece I drew in art school and is a portrait of my grandfather when he was in his 20’s. The framed quote is a printable that you can download here. The framed floral is a piece of leftover fabric from the pillow.
SILVER TRAY: From West Elm.
PAPER BLOOMING BRANCHES: You are in luck! Here is the DIY tutorial for those.
DOG: If you have not met him yet, that is Enzo my little love bug. He is a rescue, so I am told he is an Italian Doxi which is an Italian greyhound and dachshund mix. His favorite morning spot is on this cozy bed.
