String Light CoversString Light CoversHere is a quick and easy way to take a strand of regular string lights and dress them up perfectly for your outdoor entertaining. I love this string light covers project because it is so simple, and most people have at least a strand or two of lights already buried somewhere in their garage. I made these string light covers specifically for our family Fourth of July party, but I can see them staying up all summer long for outdoor events! They really do look gorgeous when strung around some pretty greenery in the backyard. Or if you live in an apartment building, you can easily wrap them around your balcony railing to liven up the space.

To make these starry string lights, you can use either metallic text weight paper (my favorite is from Paper-Papers) or glittery card stock, depending on the look you are going for. I used this star punch from Fiskars to make gold and silver foil stars. After punching your stars, use a small circle punch to create a hole in the middle of each star. Now you can slide the paper star string light covers onto your tiny bulbs. I added a touch of hot glue to keep them in place. The shimmery paper will reflect an extra sparkle onto your starlit party. And, it is very easy to remove the stars after you are finished using them. Shine on! ~ Lia
