Looking for Christmas tree ideas? When I am decorating my tree I always like to think outside of the traditional, so when Treetopia approached me and asked me if I would be interested in decorating a technicolor tree for the Holidays, I jumped at the chance. I began by picking out their Snowy Spruce flocked tree which is simply beautiful. The team and I then set about decorating the tree with a mix of handmade and purchased decorations.

We are heavily influenced by Scandinavian design so chose a crisp palette of teal, red and white to decorate our tree. After hanging a selection of red glass baubles and large berry balls, we added our handmade paper ornaments in various shades of teal. Including decorations in a variety of sizes is important when you are creating a gorgeous Holiday tree so our pattern for the paper baubles includes three different sizes! They are really simple to make and and can obviously be made in any color of paper or card that you choose. We threw in a set of glitter teal baubles for a little added bling!

We also added our old favorites to the tree, our pure white paper love birds. These sweet DIY ornaments add a perfect dose of elegance to our Holiday tree. You can find the pattern and tutorial for these gorgeous creatures over here. Finally we included the over sized letter lights reading JOY. These are easy to pick up in home stores or most craft stores and don’t need to be limited to the mantle! Get creative, think outside the box and create something magical!

We would love to see your handmade tree ornaments or creative Holiday tree decorations. Share your pictures with us across Facebook, Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag #DIYDreamingWithLia and we will share our favorites. See you there! ~Lia
