I like to embrace the changing season by bringing a little fall decor into my home. My DIY paper acorn is a cute project for lovers of fall. And it is super simple to make!

Because of the intricate cuts, we recommend using a cutting machine to save you some time. But this project is also easy to cut by hand with a detail knife.

Love to decorate for fall? Go nuts!

One thing we love about this project is how versatile it is. And since they are easy to craft, you can make a bunch in no time at all. You could string a bunch of these paper acorns together to make a cute fall garland, place them in a bowl as a pretty fall decoration, or fill them with goodies and use them for your table place setting!

To make my paper acorn I used two shades of metallic paper. The top is a shimmering copper color which I am utterly in love with. And for the bottom half of the paper acorn I used a rich gold metallic.

How to Make a Metallic Paper Acorn

Gather your craft tools and materials. Then download the pattern below.
Cut the pattern pieces, using either your scissors or a cutting machine.
Fold and roll the base, gluing each tab down as you go.
Glue side tab of paper acorn closed.

Was the paper used to make the acorns, ie. antique gold and copper from Paper Papers?

Is anyone who have made these having trouble getting them to look like they do in the picture. Hot glue doesnt seem to be working well.

  Certain kinds of crafting paper do not interact well with hot glue, and it also depends on how fast you work when gluing the paper before it cools.

  I have had a horrible time with these. The top is to big or to small. The acorn body doesn’t seem to be tall enough. I ordered the recommended paper and no success.

Hope to be getting my Cricut soon. Will be making my Acorn boxes in February, but they will be on the table in November of 2016 with salted mixed nuts and a piece of maple sugar candy. What a crafty lady you are!

These are darling! I’ve thought up a bunch of ideas for blessing others. I love papers-papers paper but shipping is out of this world for this tiny order. Any suggestions of other retailers who might carry metallic paper who might be more reasonable on shipping or might be a local source (hobby lobby, michaels, craft warehouse, etc.)?

  I have found nice metallic paper at stationery stores like Paper Source. I have unfortunately not seen Metallic paper at Michaels but I have noticed their assortment change from store to store, and if a lot of us are requesting it hopefully they would start carrying it:-)

How do you all come up with all these unique ideas? These acorns are precious, love idea and how do you figure out how to put them together to make them so useable? Have got to make some of these, can still be used at Christmas time. Wonderful idea to use as little gift container. Bravo. Happy weekend
