So we are quickly realizing that there is a LOT of fun to be had with foam crafts. When Floracraft® recently sent us a box full of foamy bits and bobs, we got a little giddy about the things we could make, hack, embellish and generally have a blast with! Todays snowflake DIY tree topper is one such project. Using a little silver foil and adhesive gems we turned a simple snowflake shape into something worthy of a place on top of our studio tree.
Silver foil is easy to use and looks gorgeous on just about anything! It’s very forgiving – any cracks or imperfections add to the beauty of the project – which makes it the ideal craft material for newbies or kids. You can buy it in sheets from most craft stores and you will find instructions on the pack that talk you through the process of using it.
On top of the silver foil we added a variety of adhesive gems in silver and gold. To turn this pretty snowflake into the perfect tree topper, we made a coil out of a 12″ length of gold wire. We popped the end of the coil into the bottom of the star and and our snowflake was ready to put pride of place on the tree.
