My paper feathers are an oldie but a goodie and for the first time I am sharing the SVG file for this design so that you can print and cut them at home on your cutting machine – hooray! It’s a simple design which is brought to life by scoring the center line and adding the gold leaf tips – aren’t they gorgeous? We discovered this gold leaf pen recently and have been adding a little glam to anything we can get our hands on ever since. It’s super-simple to use, especially on paper projects like this, and is the perfect way to dress up your DIY. We used it on our cute DIY leather feather earrings and love the result.
Tools & Materials
- Paper – I use metallic papers from PaperPapers.com
- Gold Leaf Pen
- Cricut Cutting Machine – optional!
Let’s Do This!
Become a member to download these feather patterns. Then click on the SVG file below if you have a cutting machine or the PDF file if you will be cutting by hand. We cut our feather templates onto a variety of papers and card stock – including that gorgeous glitter blue. So feel free to try this design on various papers – just note that the shape holds a little better on a slightly thicker paper than ordinary printer paper weight. In this post we have used our gold leaf tipped paper feathers to adorn our gifts but they can also be used to make garlands (post coming up!) or to make a gorgeous paper feather wreath like the one we made here. Use glue, ribbon or miniature pegs to secure these paper feathers to the tops of your gifts and you have yourself a perfectly pretty parcel to give to a loved one. Enjoy! ~ Lia

I have joined but many times it will not accept that fact. I get discouraged because I must log in so many times that I finally give up. At this rate, I am not getting my monies worth.
I’m sorry for the trouble! Can you send an email to hello@liagriffith.com with more details– we can look into your account for you.

These feathers are SO beautiful!!!
Thank you!
Lia,
Thank you for sharing these lovely feathers! My daughter is mad for feathers and I think her birthday gift this year will just have to include some as you have pictured them. I can’t wait to see her face–she will be more interested in these than the actual gift, I assure you. 🙂
That’s great! I hope she loves them 🙂
I love the blue wrapping paper, where did you get that? You are so creative! Just love all the feathers and gold tips:)
Thank you Jackie!! The blue wrapping paper is actually just metallic paper that we ordered from Paper-Papers brand. I’m not sure of the exact color, but you can peruse their site if you’d like, they have an amazing selection!
Thank you for the free patterns. My daughter, who recently earned the title of US Marine, was embarking on her Crucible journey. A tradition of the Crucible is to light a candle as your recruit journeys through this grueling test of mental and physical strength and endurance.
I had created a display and felt it was missing something. And then, I received your email and knew what it needed. White feathers. A white feather is a symbol used in the Marine Corps marksmanship program and she had been given one during her training on the range where she earned the highest level of marksmanship.
Perfect. I didn’t have gold leaf, but I did have some gold embossing glitter. Added just the right touch to my display.
That sounds just gorgeous! I loved hearing your story.
I just read this comment and i realize it is about 2 months late but I wanted to just drop you a note to say I really love your ideas for the display to honor your daughter’s Crucible Journey. What a beautiful way to honor your daughter’s journey.
These are beautiful! And thank you for including a printable for those of us that don’t have a cutting machine!
Yes! We try to make it available for everyone!
I love love love this!! Great photos too!
Thank you Sarah!
Thank you for sharing this awesome design, I love your wreath!
Thank you, that warms my heart to hear!
These are just stunning thank you so much for patterns!
You are welcome, it is a twist on one of my first pattern.Never goes out of style:-)
I fell in love immediately. Wanted to do this for a friend. Can’t get it to work. It keeps telling me this type of file not supported, both the svg and the jpeg. Help me, please.
I am not understanding what you are trying to do. The svg file needs to be uploaded (not opened) into Design Space if you have a Cricut Explore. Both of them works for us. Can you give us some more details.
red faced. so sorry! I have a Cameo. sorry again!!
No problem, you just need the Designer Edition software from Silhouette:-)
How do you get such a nice folded crease on the curved pattern??
You can use a scoring tool to draw the indent first. This really helps. Also, the Cricut Explore has a scoring tool.
LOVELY!!! Thanks SO VERY MUCH for sharing!! We are blessed to receive so many wonderful gifts from you!!
You are so sweet, thank you! Warms my heart to hear!
It’s epic you are so clever lia xxxx

Your paper feathers will probably always be my favourite of all your shape/basic forms.
They are just SO versatile and no matter what project I use them for, they just look beautiful.
Mine are all still handout, but it’s fun none-the-less.

Thank you so much! It was time to bring back a favorite!
Love the gold tipped feathers! Thanks for the files!
Enjoy!
where did you get the larger sheer ribbon, it is so pretty with these feathers!?
I found it at my local fabric store, they have a lovely selection of ribbons.
Where did you get the glitter paper? It is stunning!
The paper is from Paper-Papers, I used a 18K gold leafing pen from Krylon.
You did a gorgeous job with the packages and the feather accents!
Thank you so much!
