How to Make Graduation Cupcake Toppers

To incorporate these graduation cupcake toppers into your celebration, begin by downloading the template below. Save the SVG file if you will be using a cutting machine to trim your mini graduation caps and tassels. Or use the PDF file if you will be cutting by hand. If you are using the PDF, trim the pieces onto regular copy paper and then use these pieces as a guide for cutting your card stock or lighter-weight colored paper.

To assemble the graduation cap, use Art Glitter glue or hot glue to first glue the ends of the cap band to create a hoop, then attach the top square to the flaps of the cap’s band. Next, trim your tassel. We used metallic text weight paper for our tassel. The thinner paper will give the tassel a more natural look. Attach the small circle to the top of your tassel, and then attach these pieces to your cap.

Once our grad caps were assembled, we used hot glue to attach them to our trimmed paper straws. These graduation cupcake toppers would also work well just by resting the cap directly on the frosting!

For the cupcake wrappers: Below you will also find the SVG template for our detailed papercut and simple cupcake wrappers and a PDF for the simple wrapper. You can print or cut onto regular printer paper or white card stock. The printer paper will be easier to bend around your cupcake, while the card stock will be a bit sturdier and more grease-resistant. You can secure the wrappers around your cupcakes using tape or a glue dot roller.
