I can tell it is summer (even though it has been raining the last few days here in Portland) because I am craving bright colors. And that is exactly what I reached for when I started making this crepe paper ranunculus bouquet. I love the way the colors pops!
Back when I had my flower shop, I loved these little blooms. It seemed they have a mind of their own and with their curling and unpredictable stems could make a very interesting bouquet. With the wire stems of this crepe version, you can have your paper blooms do the same. The leaves on these flowers grow towards the bottom of the stem and in my flower shop we would trim them off completely and use other greenery. One of my favorites was the lemon leaf as it was large and seemed to support the wild heads of the flower. For this crepe version I made my leaves in two colors to add a little interest. I love the way the grain of the crepe mirrors the veins in the leaf as it is cut on an angle and glued onto the leaf stem in a V shape.
Ranunculus come in many color options, so pick your favorite and join me in adding a pop of color with these oh-so-happy flowers to any event, party or for a personalized gift. Below is my step-by-step tutorial and the link for the PDF printable pattern. Stay tuned as I am filming a video tutorial for this flower as well giving you more tips and tricks to working with floral crepe. Enjoy! ~ Lia

Hi, your YouTube tutorial says to click the link below to get the pattern to this flower. The link brings me here and when I click on the link it says I must be a member to print the pattern. Is that the case? Because you didn’t mention that. Thanks for your time.
Hi! Correct, we are a membership site and most of our downloads do require a membership.
Hi, I was watching your video and I’m not clear on whether you are supposed to cut all the petals halfway or just the smallest first 15? Thanks!
Hi! Just the smaller 10 should be cupped, cut then overlapped & glued.
Where do you purchase mettalic text weight paper.. I am from india and i am having a hard time finding them… Even we dont get good quality crepe papers here…what we get is low quality one.. But we have duplex crepe.. Can u please suggest where to buy mettalic text weight paper.
Hi! We order from paperpapers.com, but I don’t know how far outside the US they ship. LCIPaper.com is another source that does ship internationally (but again not sure exactly where they ship).
Hi Lia, I have a question about the cricut maker settings. When I cut heavy crepe paper it never cuts trough all the way. I do the setting on crepe paper and more for pressure. Is there a different setting you know about that I can use for the heavy crepe paper? Thank you in advance for your reply.
Hi! We tend to use the cotton or denim setting for heavy crepe paper. We also use a brayer or scraper tool to press the paper onto the fabric mat. I hope that helps!
such a great piece of art. thanks for inspiring me. i wish i can learn in person from u all this and other art work.
Thanks so much 🙂
Great tutorial!! These can be used for any occasion. I made a couple of different sizes and used them on a Birthday present.

Where do you purchase your floral crepe paper? I’m having a hard time finding the large rolls!
There is a link in the post that you can follow for the Carte Fini paper that I like to order online 🙂
If you are making a flower out of crepe paper could I substitute for card stock? Will they look as nice?
Card stock is a different texture and it is less flexible so it’s more difficult to bend to make the flowers. So I would advise against using card stock 🙂 It is great for other projects! Just not for flowers
Thank you so very much for these wonderful tutorials! They are precisely what I need to make these flowers to decorate my reception. I appreciate your time, effort and willingness to share. 🙂
