One of the projects on my list for my dining room is a paper leaf chandelier to hang around the light over my table. As an installation style project that will decorate this space until the end of the year, the paper chandelier must also coordinate with my fall and Christmas decor. 

For this project, we picked papers in our favorite colors of frosted tones of gold and pale pink. This color palette will be carried through my Thanksgiving table, as you can see in the photo below, and my Christmas dinner. 

What made this project so simple to make was the Instant Tacky Glue Dots provided by Aleene’s®. Not only do they provide the perfect adhesive for paper, but there is no mess and cleanup, making this a special group activity or something you can make with your kids.

For the strongest bond, use on clean, dry surfaces.

  1. Peel away top protective covering to expose adhesive dot.
  2. Press item onto adhesive dot.
  3. Peel away the bottom protective covering.
  4. Press item onto the surface.

Bonus Gratitude Activity

For your Thanksgiving dinner, here is how to create a mini installation activity for your guests. Cut strips of matching paper and gently curl each one. At the top of each piece, add one glue dot, leaving the protective cover on the outside. Place all of your curled paper strips into a bowl. When your guests arrive, ask them to write what they are grateful for on multiple pieces of the curled paper. They can then pull off the second protective cover on the glue dot and attach it to the chandelier. 

How to Make a Paper Leaf Chandelier

  1. Gather your craft tools and materials. Then download the pattern below.
  2. Lay two pieces of binding wire across the embroidery hoop in an “x”; wrap each end of wire around the hoop to hold in place.
  3. Tie a piece of string at the center of the crossing wires for hanging.
  4. Cut paper according to template notes using scissors or a cutting machine.
  5. Use your curling tool to curl the paper leaves.
  6. Attach paper leaves to embroidery hoop using Aleene’s instant tacky adhesive dots.
