Every month I write these calendar posts and every month it reminds me how much time flies! Things have been extremely busy in the studio this summer. I am feeling SO excited that this month marks the official release of the Lia Griffith extra fine crepe paper line! I am beyond eager for people to start trying it out. August 2016 also marks the release of my craft kit line in JoAnn Fabric & Craft Stores. Surprise! I haven’t been able to share the news until now, and I have been bursting at the seams keeping it a secret. More news on that to come, but just know that there will be a line of gorgeous Fall/Halloween craft kits as well as a line of Christmas projects. In the meantime, you can print our August 2016 calendar to keep you organized this month!
This year our design concept for the 12-month calendar was a soft watercolor header with gorgeous faux gold foil script lettering. You know how much I love my metallics! The August 2016 calendar specifically features teal, robin’s egg blue watercolor detailing that reminds me of serene waters in some tropical location. Which is exactly where I would want to be during the month of August! If you would like to use this calendar for your monthly planning, start by downloading the PDF below. There are no major (US) holidays during the month of August, so the calendar is currently blank. The best part is that each date has a completely editable text field. You can type in your own events and appointments by using the free font Arcon. Install the font and customize the text as you like!
Once your August 2016 calendar is edited to fit your specific schedule, you can then print the file onto 8.5 x 11 white card stock. Each month we post the 30-day calendar as a freebie, but you can download the entire year’s calendar instead by creating a membership. If you do not want to create a membership at this time, the 2016 calendar is also available for individual purchase in my Etsy shop. Happy August! ~ Lia

Thank you! I’ll have to look for tutorials about clipping masks and textures in Adobe.
Are there any posts regarding printers? I’ve been looking for a new printer since I print a lot and live in the desert. I send pages to office stores to print but it’s getting a little out of hand to go out of my way to go there to pick up pages. I keep thinking laser, but I need one that prints card stock. If I could find one that has a manual feed or a side to side feed so the paper doesn’t curl as badly.
So any advice or recommendations from what you use?
Hi Lauren! We started a partnership with Canon after trying their printers and loving the results. If you search “Canon” on the site you’ll see the posts. This Pixma MG7720 a nice basic one that prints 8.5×11 (and comes in a few colors!), and the Pixma iP8720 is a step above and prints 11×17. They’re both great!
Is there a tutorial on the faux gold for the font? I love it and would like to learn how to add this to projects.
Thank you!
I suggest looking online, because we do it in illustrator using clipping masks and textures. You can also buy foiling machines for a real look, which we hope to try soon! 🙂
