I have been excited to share my updated dining room decor with you, so much so that I will have to do it in two parts. The open concept room that is in the heart of the large space has been coming together piece by piece in the last few months and is now ready to do a little show-and-tell.
Spring is the perfect time to rethink a home decor color palette, a simple refresh and to make a few updates to existing pieces. One of the best ways to update a look is to bring in a fresh new color and a Spring favorite of mine is coral. You will see coral sprinkled here throughout my dining room and again in my updated living room that I will be sharing in a few weeks.
The center of the dining room is the table and I picked this gorgeous long wood table that will easily seat 8 and fits the dining room space perfectly. Details of the table in the next post. The perfect table needs the perfect chairs, right? I love to mix and match my chairs so I decided to start with updating my beloved vintage Chippendale chairs that I found on Craigslist a few years ago. When I bought them for next to nothing, they had been spray painted a dark brown. Wanting to make my dining room as bright and light as possible, I decided to change them back to their original color, and since they are metal I sent them to get a professional powder coat in an egg shell white. Once the chairs were painted, I updated the seat cushions with a crisp and classic grey and white striped linen fabric. You can find a similar, new Chippendale chair here on Wayfair. I just adore these chairs.
I then found these two Baxton Halifax armchairs to bookend my dining room table and a similar upholstered bench for the bay window at Wayfair. Both of these styles are a natural linen color and tufted. . . two of my favorite things. The bench is now a sunny window seat and has quickly become a favorite spot for both my dog Enzo and my kitty Cleo.

Yes! I’m really happy with the table. We’ve used it for so many different things around here (conference table, photo backdrop, project table) and it’s held up nicely.
did you get rid of the west elm Emerson table? if so why? you have very lovely rooms.

Enjoyed so much photos of your extended space. Gives much better idea of how you split the room up to accommodate all you did. So nice. I’d be so embarrassed for anybody to see what my house looks like before I clean it up and declutter.
The leader of hubs American Legion post dropped by other morning. Hubs was still sleeping so I gave living room quick clean up (thank heavens) before he got there. However I wasn’t what I would call presentable. If he does it again I will ask him to please call first before coming over. Hubs had partial knee replacement on 4/28 so my chores have tripled and having time to keep house in any kind of order not easy for me let alone for my own appearance. aaaccchhh.
Have to help hubs bandage his surgery booboo and then put compression stockings on both legs then wrap leg that had surgery. Have to help him get stockings off as well as wrap before his shower. Not easy for me at all since strength in hands has gone off somewhere, lol.

I try to keep my living and dining room somewhat tidy because it is the first you see when you walk in the door:-) But I do prefer guest to call before they decide to show up, I usually do the 10 minute sweep before anyone comes;-)

Absolutely beautiful The colors you used, in my opinion, give such a relaxing, calming effect. What is the paint color you used on your walls? I am getting ready to redo my bedroom and was planning to bring in the blues and peaches with a solid cream quilt but am having trouble deciding on my wall color.In the pictures some of your walls look like a light gray, one looks like a pale green, another looks light taupe or beige. I am in my 70’s so my eyes are not as good as they use to be so I may not see the colors correctly. I hope you can help. Thanks,
Wall paint always looks different depending on the light. The whole room (and my living room) is the same color which I do love. It is called Oyster Bay from Sherwin Williams.

Your home is absolutely beautiful; I can imagine the smiles and uplifted hearts of everyone who steps inside the door. Just one question…how on earth, when you work as hard as you do and have a dog and a cat, do you keep your home so spotlessly clean?!
Luckily my dog does not shed and is fairly clean, believe me it does get messy. It is just a mad hour of cleaning before the photo shoot:-)
I love the way the room looks. I especially like that you repeated the bird design from the new Cricut designs used in the framed pictures on the large blue pillow. Those designs are absolutely beautiful. Well done, Lia.
