Paper Cut Gold Ornaments for Your Tree
I am adding my finishing touches to my holiday tree this week and one of my handmade ornaments are these elegant paper cut pieces that are made from glitter paper. My tree is a mixture of golds and whites in a soft woodland theme. Oh so pretty! I will share the full reveal with you on Friday. I did cut these on my Cricut Explore which does such a beautiful job of trimming all of the detail. If you enjoy using your craft knife to cut details, there is a PDF printable template for you. If you have a cutting machine and can upload SVG files, you can download that file below as well. These are not only great for tree decorations but make a beautiful addition to any holiday package. Cut them from glitter paper, red, green or white and they are a great handcrafted touch! Enjoy. ~ Lia

Lia, I love these ornaments and printed them on my Cricut Maker. I used the Recollections glitter paper, but my ornaments are so thin, they stuck like glue to my Light Grip mat and I had to be very careful not to tear them when pulling them away from the mat. Also, they don’t look nearly as beautifully cut as yours, although I used the “cardstock intricate” setting. Is there a trick you know of to keep the paper from sticking so much to the mat? Also, are there instructions embedded in the svg file that makes it cut the ornaments twice? When I started my Cricut cutting, it cut each one of the ornaments twice, which is good since they are so intricate, but I wasn’t sure if I did that somehow or it’s embedded that way in the file. Thanks for your help!
Hi Penny,
Cutting more intricate files can be difficult, especially when removing them from the mat! We have found that using a less sticky mat that has been used helps, also if you roll the mat away from the paper as you remove the design this can prevent tearing. Also try using the small spatula tool to help get it started. Its really all about patients when working with detailed designs 🙂
thank you for sharing, very useful.i love them very much.everything!
🙂
Hi Lia! Happy holidays! I’m wondering what specific glitter paper you recommend for the Cricut machine? I feel like some of the paper I have has too large chunks of glitter to work with the Cricut. Thanks!
Hi Marisa! I’ve had good luck with the Recollections brand from Michaels!
Love the beautiful ornaments! Can you personalize and change wording? Thanks!
Thanks! This is a specific design so it is not changeable. There is a version that has an area for you to write a message. Here is the link: https://liagriffith.com/paper-cut-holiday-gift-tags/

Thank you so much for putting the paper cut patterns up. I don’t have a cricut and do everything by hand. These are wonderful projects!
It makes them extra special to cut them by hand. 😉
Thank you so much:)
I absolutely love these ornaments. Can’t wait to cut them. Thank you for sharing the SVG file. I am going to try cutting these right now on my Silouhette. Can’t wait to see how they turn out. Just a side note…I grew up in Gresham and Portland. I am so glad that I happened upon your website. You are an amazing talent. thanks so much for sharing those talents with us. God Bless you during this holiday season.
Thank you so much!! Happy you found my site too;) Especially since we were almost neighbors.
Gorgeous ornaments! Thank you so much for sharing the svg file. I made a pretty box to keep them safe each year.
Great idea! I will use mine for next year too.
I have a Cricut Expression 2. I’m fairly new to Cricut and I much prefer Cricut Craft Room as opposed to the machine alone. If I understand correctly, the CCR software won’t allow me to open SVG files. Is there any way for me to download your beautiful files and cut them with the machine I have? Your talent is amazing. Thank you.
Unfortunately only the Cricut Explore and Design Space (Explore’s version of Craft Room) will give you that flexibility.
Wow, thank you so much for creating and sharing your images. They are beautiful. I’m thinking of using them on cards as well as Christmas tree ornaments
Happy Holidays
