Felt Play Watering Can
Water You Waiting For?
One of my absolute favorite spring activities is getting outside and digging around in my garden. The sun beaming down, cool earth in my hands—it's one of life's simple joys. For this next craft, we wanted to introduce the fun and magic of gardening to our future green thumbs with this adorable Felt Play Watering Can. This updated felt craft project is soft enough for play, while still sturdy enough to hold its shape for hours of gardening fun.

Our reimagining of this Felt Play Watering Can is a return to the basics. This version leans fully into felt with no added materials for a cohesive, handcrafted look. This is a great project for crafters who want to focus on stitching dimensional pieces while refining their embroidery skills along the way. And like many of our other embroidery projects, a bit of tacky glue can help secure smaller elements before stitching, keeping everything aligned as you work.
What I love most especially about this project is how it invites imaginative play for your little ones. Pair your Felt Watering Can with our Felt Gardening Tools & Seeds, along with our Felt Vegetable Garden for outdoor and indoor fun. It’s the kind of piece that encourages storytelling — watering imaginary blooms, tending to a pretend garden, or simply carrying it from room to room as a favorite companion.
To keep a vintage feel to our Felt Watering Can, we used a rich brown felt for a coppery feel. However, that’s just one vision for this sweet little craft, and we can’t wait to see yours. Keep the palette classic with soft greens and floral pastels, or brighten it up with playful colors to match your child’s personality.
When your Felt Play Watering Can is complete and ready for its first official "pour" of the season, don't forget to share with us in our crafters' community and on social using #MadeWithLia. We love seeing how your handmade pieces come to life in everyday moments.
