Keeping with our theme for this month, “Bring Paradise Home,” we wanted to give these simple Swedish dishcloths a tropical makeover. We used good quality fabric markers to draw the leaf pattern and word paradise. And the material cut beautifully on our Cricut Maker using the rotary blade. If you want to make some for your kitchen, these tropical Swedish dishcloths are a free project thanks to our friends at Swedish Wholesale.

Tropical Towels
If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that I strive to live a more sustainable lifestyle. And am always interested in using eco-friendly products. These Swedish dishcloths are made from biodegradable cellulose and all-natural cotton materials. They’re also really absorbent, so you can use them in place of paper towels, and they’re reusable! Swedish Wholesale says that one pack of 10 dishcloths should last you about a year, so it’s very cost-effective in addition to helping reduce waste.
Of course we always have to put our creative spin on things, which is why we drew on them to transform them into tropical Swedish dishcloths. You can mix and match different colors of dishcloths and fabric markers to match your kitchen. Or create whatever color combination makes you smile!

Instructions
- Download the free SVG cut file below if using your Cricut Maker or Silhouette Cameo 4, or download the PDF template if you’re cutting by hand.
- Follow the instructions for your specific cutting machine to use a fabric marker to draw the tropical leaf pattern and words provided. Cut out the curvy edge and tropical leaf pattern with your machine — or by hand using sharp craft scissors.
- Follow the instructions on your fabric markers. The brand I chose instructed me to let the marker dry for 6 hours, then use an iron to apply heat to set the design.
- When it comes time to wash your tropical Swedish dishcloths, you can toss them into your washer, but I recommend letting them hang dry. Rinse and repeat!

Back to the TopHi Lia, thanks for the reply. Tried foam board setting with rotary blade, and the machine almost cut thru the mat and ended with an error in the blade housing. I will try to work something out. Anyway thanks again.
When I am cutting a new material, I always test a small circle or star. It saves me time. 😉
Hi, I’ve been using my Cricut Maker for various uses and I’m trying to cut holes and shapes out of my Swedish dishcloths. You mentioned using the Cricut Maker’s rotary blade to cut the Swedish dishcloth, but do you have any idea which material I should be selecting on my Cricut Maker? Or maybe an indicative cut pressure? Any advice would be wonderful, thank u!
I would start with a thicker fabric setting. Maybe use one of your cloths as a tester. Every machine cuts just a bit different.
Also check out SUPERSCANDI Swedish Dishcloths. They are cheaper and from Sweden. They are also delivered in a non plastic packaging. They are available on Amazon.
