Goodies You Can't Google
You've found a member-exclusive project. But for less than the price of a fancy coffee... You'll get instant access to this and over 2,000 other premium projects inside the Lia Griffith membership!
Become a MemberJoin us on Friday, June 14th at noon PT for our live workshop where we'll answer your questions, offer some useful tips and tricks, and most importantly, spend some time crafting with you. If you can't make it to the live session, don't worry! The video will be available right here when you're ready to join our crafty cohort.
This advanced project is perfect for experienced crafters who want to explore intricate details and learn tips and tricks for bringing their gorgeous creations to life! However, we'd love to see you there -- no matter your current skill level. All are welcome!
To create these beautiful Crepe Paper Zinnias, you'll need a variety of tools and materials. While you could absolutely cut your petals out by hand, we highly recommend you delegate that task to your cutting machine. We crafted our zinnias in shades of Blush, Honeysuckle, Camellia, Chiffon, Ruby, and Cypress, to create a soft summer vibe. For added texture, you'll also use our Double-Sided Crepe Paper in Fern & Moss.
Needle-nose pliers, wire cutters, and a curling tool will help you manipulate thick paper-covered stem wire and 24-gauge floral wire to construct the flower stems. Blending brushes and a fringe clip will aid in finishing touches. Additionally, we'll show you how to carefully shape each petal with a steel ball shaping tool and add intricate details with needle-nose tweezers. The petals are then blended with PanPastel in Diarylide Yellow to give them a realistic touch. True, it's a bit of a proccess -- but well worth it in the end!
Even if you're new to working with such fine details, don't worry! Our live workshop is the perfect opportunity to ask questions, get tips, and craft along with our wonderful community. We encourage you to gather all your supplies beforehand so you're ready to dive into this challenging, but super fun project.
Whether you join us live or watch the workshop video later, we can't wait to see you there! Let's bring the joyful spirit of summer into our homes together with these beautiful Crepe Paper Zinnias. Don't forget to share your finished flowers with us in our crafters' community or on Instagram with the hashtag #MemberMake.

Lia do you think these can be made with double sided crepe paper?
I think the petals can be made from double-sided, yes.
The templates say “Green Tea and Cypress” for the leaves but you use Fern and Moss. Not a huge deal but I didn’t catch it until after I cut and then started watching video.
Thank you for letting us know! We will update that asap. 😉
Heya Team
On the tutorial document, you seem to be missing the instructions for panels 1,2 and 3 – its fairly obvious what you are doing, esp after watching the video but just letting you know 🙂
Cheers!
Oh no! It should be fixed now.
Hi there. Is there a regular video for the zinnea workshop? The one that’s posted is only a minute long.
I’m getting better at making flowers but not that better!!
The one hour workshop is there, under the first photo and right under the dotted lines.
how do I participate in the live sessions?
It will be live right here or on the homepage at noon Pacific Time. Look forward to seeing you!!
Is the ruby paper needed for the center of the flowers? I have all the other colors but no ruby.
You can use a different color or stretch a heavy to thin the paper. Totally use what you have. 🙂
I noticed on the svg file it says to resize box to 5X5, is that a misprint? Thanks
Whoops! It is fixed now. 🙂
Can’t wait! These are gorgeous flowers!
Hope to see you at the Member Make!
What pretty flowers! I am hoping to make these this month…I will be packing most of my craft supplies up before moving the end of July, and was wondering if there is a colored pencil involved in shading the leaves? They look amazing!
Yes! We used a White and Chartreuse colored pencil, links to them have been added to the post. 🙂
Thank you.
Looking forward to this Member Make.
