DIY Felt Flower Anemone
I have been designing and making paper flowers for some time now and have recently started developing designs into felt. This DIY felt flower is based on my popular tissue paper anemone design and I am totally in love with the softness and texture that is created when it’s made from felt.

Become a MemberI like to create designs that are simple for you to make and so this is a no-sew felt flower that can be easily put together in a matter of minutes. All you need to do is download the pattern below, cut out the template onto some good quality felt and assemble the pieces using fabric glue or a low temperature glue gun. I love the contrast of the cream and black felts in these anemones but feel free to use old scraps of felt in any color. For the instructions on how to make a felt ball, head on over to this post. The template includes two other flowers (as you see in the photo below)– we have a full tutorial for the felt flower poms here!

Once you have made your felt anemone there are lots of ways you can use it. Glue a badge pin or bobby pin to the back to make a cute brooch or hair accessory, use it as a gift topper or make a few, and string them together to form a felt flower garland. I would love to see your DIY felt flowers so please share your pictures with me @liagriffith on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. See you there! ~ Lia & team

Hi!
Love this project- but one question- it’s not clear to me where the roving ball goes! Does the roving ball go in the centre of the flower and it’s just not clear from the pictures because you’ve made a black roving ball ball and black Center? Or is it somewhere else and I’m simply missing it?
Thank you!
Hi! Yes, step 6 in the photo tutorial shows that you wrap the black fringe around the black roving ball, and that is your flower center 🙂
I love this do i have to pay for the template?
Hi there, yes this is a download included with a paid membership to our site. Learn more here: https://liagriffith.com/membership/
Hello
Ur tutorial is lovely but you have not clearly mentioned the thickness of felt sheet i.e it’s 1.2mm or 1.5mm or it’s 2mm
And felt sheet are available in woven , polyester or it’s hard felt sheet . It’s not available in my city so please mention clearly so I can have it online .
We use a variety of felt on our projects. These flowers are specifically made with felt that is a blend of 20-35% wool with the rest rayon, and approximately 1mm thick.
How much felt do you need for each flower?
It depends on the size of your felt, but if it is close to the standard 12″x18″ size the petals will be about half a sheet.
what percentage are the templates at? when I go to download them, they are huge?
The PDF should download at 100%. Was it enlarged when you printed it?
Yes. But thats okay. I did a couple different sizes. I think it’ll be nice.
Where do I find the directions for the cornflowers?
They’re in this post 🙂
where can i get the iron on gold glitter? Thanks!!!
It’s Cricut brand, we love it! You can order here 🙂
Although I really like this project there are no list for supplies needed for the project
flowers as well as what is the felt wool for as I am not into felting. Please include
better detail instructions for us who do not craft for a living only as a hobby!…Thank you
Sorry. We used a fabric scissor, low temperature glue gun, felting needle and robbing felt (you could buy a small felt ball instead) and then of course the printable template. For felt colors we used Ecur and Black from Benzie Design. We have tried to make this project as simple as possible even for those that doesn’t craft for a living:-)
Love these, will be going to dig in my felt as soon as I get off here. Besides making paper flowers love making fabric/felt flowers and projects. Felt is great medium to work with. Will check out Hobby Lobby to see how their felt is so can use coupon. These flowers look to be fairly easy to make. Would like to make a head garland for youngest grand daughter to wear or at least one flower cluster for her beautiful golden long naturally curly hair. Maybe she can wear it to her home coming dance. She’s sophomore class president.
I so enjoy seeing what your next project will be every day. Always telling people about your site. Have great week.
Yes, yes, yes!!! We are using these flowers for a little fairy costume for Halloween so stay tuned for that. We also have a little floral wand to match. Of course your grand daughter is too old for the wand. 😉
