Become a MemberI am having a flashback to my high school years when I loved to wear fabric headbands and jumbo scrunchies. Here we are three decades later, and these practical hair accessories are being revived! But instead of buying them, I would much rather design some DIY headbands and scrunchies that reflect my own personal style. So if you love getting crafty as I do, I’m going to show you how I made these popular accessories and personalized them using my favorite fabric designs from the Waverly Inspirations Collection at Walmart.

Punchy Scrunchies & Pretty Bands
The best part of DIY headbands and scrunchies is getting to pick your own fabric. I selected two pretty cotton fat quarters from the Waverly Inspirations collection at Walmart for a headband/scrunchie set. This fabric is only available at Walmart, so you’re sure to find some unique designs. Whether you like seasonal prints or prefer solid colors only, there are so many great options to choose from. And they are very affordable, which is always a bonus!
Once you’ve selected the fabrics you like for your DIY headbands and scrunchies, you’ll want to also get sewing thread that matches. Everything I used is linked below, and you can find the free pattern and tutorial I created for both accessories at the bottom of this post.
If you have any questions, just let us know in the comments below. Don’t forget you can use this pattern and tutorial over and over again to create headbands and scrunchies for every season and holiday. Not only are they fun for you to wear, but they would also make great gifts!
