DIY Wedding Cake and Cupcake Topper
Earlier this month we discovered BARC wood papers and have been excited to use them in a DIY wedding project ever since. We are in love with the birch wood paper – a sheer veneer sheet that is made using real wood. It comes in sheets, tape rolls and larger rolls with either a paper backing or an adhesive backing so it’s really versatile and super fun to use. I’m a big fan of using a product like this in an unexpected place. With the wedding season upon us we have been looking at various projects to share with you over the next few weeks and the ivory tone of the birch wood paper lends itself perfectly to some of these projects. The grain of the wood reflects light in such a beautiful way it almost shines – expect to see more of it in some of our upcoming designs and DIY tutorials!
Goodies You Can't Google
You've found a member-exclusive project. But for less than the price of a fancy coffee... You'll get instant access to this and over 2,000 other premium projects inside the Lia Griffith membership!
Become a MemberToday we wanted to share these sweet little DIY wedding cake and cupcake toppers with you. We think they are so cute that your guests are likely to be popping one or two in their purse at the end of the celebrations to take home and keep! I have to admit they would look just as cute in the base of a mini succulent planter as they do on these delicious frosted cupcakes. Both the wood paper and the intricate design make this the perfect project for your cutting machine and mean you can go ahead and print out as many as you need for your guests. The blossom design is the same used in our spring paper lantern tutorial meaning that your celebration tables can be handcrafted in a cohesive theme – watch out for the matching table numbers, wedding cake toppers and signage coming your way later this week! Enjoy ~ Lia

overtime I download the svg file I only see it online how can I get the file ?
Sorry you’re having trouble! I’m not sure I understand the problem you’re having but make sure you are downloading it to your desktop or a folder, and not opening it in the web browser.
Is there a similar font type that I can use on the cricut?
I’m honestly not sure, but I imagine you would be able to find a pretty script font in Design Space!

Are the cupcake holders cut with a Cricut? They are so neat and look great in your photo.
Yes they are. I hardly cut anything by hand nowadays:-)
Love your site! I was wondering what font you used for “love” and “love grows”?
It is called Very Berry.
Hi did you customize the font your self or did you buy it from a certain seller or the cricut site ? 🙂 I’ve been looking for it like crazy no luck !:(
BTW. Love love your stuff
For this post we customized the font.
Hi Lia, Beatiful work, I have been a silent admirer for a long time. Quick question on the wording in the SVG file. Can you edit the words to say something different? I am a total newbie, just about to buy my Cricut, and hope my question isn’t too silly.
No you cannot edit the word, think of it as an image. However you can design your own in Cricut using their fonts.
Sweet Lisa, I am one of your biggest fans. I love this. . Thank you for sharing at the Thursday Favorite Things blog hop. Watch for your feature on Monday xo
Thank you!!!xo
Vraiment très belles ses découpes. Bravo
Merci 😉
Can’t wait. I will purchase it the minute I can. I love it. Loved the purple chair…haha. Keep up the amazing work.
🙂
Lia this is so pretty I love all of your designs. i wanted to know if you could check out your Ranunculus file I have tried to open it in design space and it says that there is a file missing.
Hi Cindy. Sorry, that is a question for for Cricut’s Customer Service Team. Cricut upload and maintain all those files. I will ping them as well.
Honestly, I have to agree with the comment from Alyce! I don’t have a Cricut, never knew how much I needed or wanted one until seeing your fabulous creations. Yep, it’s on the list now!
Haha! Love it Lisa. Stay tuned because I have a big Cricut announcement coming up soon. 😉
Honestly, every time you post one of your amazing ideas I have a sharp intake of breath and want to go screaming through the house, “Did you see her latest?”….I finally jumped in and turned on my Cricut last night. I cut the tags you posted for Christmas. It was as easy as you said it would be. I can’t thank you enough. I really love everything you design.
Thank you Alyce, that was so sweet of you. Posted it on my facebook as my favorite comment!
