Dream Tree Challenge with Michaels Christmas Tree Decorations
And you thought it was too early to start thinking about Holiday decorations? Here in the U.S. most people will put up their holiday trees the day after Thanksgiving towards the end of November. For my dream tree I was immediately drawn to an elegant and rustic winter woodland look using natural elements like wood, burlap and kraft paper mixed with gold, champagne and a pop of red. For this red infusion I started with the wide red and burlap ribbon, wrapping it around the tree as my garland. I then anchored my woodland theme by attaching three large reindeer into my tree branches as if they are running through the forest. This is my touch of unexpected. Once I had my larger elements in place I added the traditional balls in frosted gold, champagne and bright green. I then decorated the tree with smaller ornaments ranging like wood and kraft stars, glittered pine cones, round twig balls, laser cut wooden snowflakes and paper snowflakes (see this post). The elk and reindeer mini trophy heads were placed in key spots and a few fluffy birds were tucked into the branches. My final touch of red were the berry clusters tucked into the branches adding yet another visual texture as well as color. To top of the tree I had to indulge in this kraft Reindeer trophy. Festive and cozy, don’t you think?

Everything was purchased at Michaels, but a few years ago so I don’t have any links unfortunately!
Love this! Do you have any tips/suggestions (for a novice) on how to attach the tree topper?
Thanks.
We used a wire to wrap around the top of the tree.
Did you get all the decorations from micheal’s
All but the paper snowflakes. I am doing a DIY ornament tree that we are posting on Black Friday so come back and see that one too. 😉
Hope you don’t mind I used your tree as an inspiration. I thought it would be appropriate since my son got his first buck this year with a bow. I went to Michael’s but could not find the deer trophy but after making several more stops I found what I needed. I used a little spray paint on my finds and I think the tree turned out great! Thanks again for the inspiration
Yay!!! I am so happy that my tree inspired you. I went back to Michael’s the other day looking for another set of antlers, but looks like they were sold out:(
So beautiful! Are the little trophy head ornaments from Michaels? They are just what I’m looking for! 🙂
Yes it is from Michaels!! I love it, used it as a tree topper and you will see it in tomorrow’s post as well:)
I love this tree so much! Especially the topper! Is that from Michaels?
Yes, the topper is from Michael’s. It was such a great find, love the unexpected:)
Hi. Is the burlap ribbon from michaels as well? Can’t seem to find it on the website. Thank you.
Yes, I got it at Michael’s but in the store. Hope you can find it!
What a beautiful tree. I love the playfulness of the deer “running out of the tree” and that moose – LOVE IT!! Almost makes me want to pull my trees out to the attic…………ALMOST!! Thanks so much for sharing your tree.
Just a few weeks away:) I am so happy to hear you enjoyed it, always looking to add that unexpected and got a good laughter out of the deer running through the tree;-)

Yes it was a blast!!!!
Beautiful tree. Reminds me of the days of my youth in the mountains with my family. Hunting and fishing with my dad was a great treasure for me. And yes the comments will come about shooting animals but it was for food and I do respect life.
Thank you for sharing your memories with us!
Lia, your ideas are always the best. The placement of the ribbon and deer is prefect. I do need a small dog and tree stump, too.
Ha ha, the tree stump shouldn’t be too hard to find:) And you can borrow Enzo for a short while, I would miss him a lot if he was gone for too long. He never leaves my side, he is a real prince charming:)
