All you will need to make these cute little guys is a good quality wool felt, embroidery thread, cat nip, stuffing, twine for their tail and of course our downloadable pattern! Click on the PDF below to print out the template for this adorable DIY cat toy. Cut out the templates, transfer to your chosen felt using chalk or a fabric crayon and cut out all the pieces. You can then assemble your DIY cat toy by following our step-by-step tutorial below. Simple!

What is the thickness of the felt? 1mm or 2mm?
We used 1mm.

I’m giggling about the toy for our “four-legged”-friends. I gave such a fabric-flower-print mouse to my two-legged one (my husband), nearly 30 ago as a talisman (the English expression is what?). Since then the mouse “lives” in our car and it seems that the mouse-talisman does its job: no accident, not any kind of trouble.

Talk about a cute little critter, can hardly wait to make some of these, Fantastic idea, loving it. Will be good to practice using arm/shoulder, doing more all the time. Physical therapists are relentless.
This is perfect for our kitty. He’s about 14 but still has lots of kitten left in him. He showed up in our yard one Saturday in KY, didn’t seem to want to leave so we kept him. Since he’s an orange stripe kitty that sure helped. Think he was about 9 months old at the time. Don’t know how many cats/kittens living under our house (was on pillars). I’d hear loud fighting and bumping of floor quite often. Thought our kitty was a girl so named him Molly, poor fella. Had to think of name that sounded similar at least so he’d know we were calling him. Our daughter suggested Monty and it worked beautifully.
When he gets cabin fever this time of year, him and our dog have grand old time chasing each other thru house. Didn’t let kids do that kind of thing but do allow furry kidz to. Youngest daughter had to comment on that. Our other dog would stop cat in middle of living room and scold him when he got crazies. They seemed to have their own language between them.
