What type of paper do you select in cricut to cut your frosted craft paper? I have tried a couple and it is breaking it. Thanks!
We use the standard mat with a fine point blade, set on the Copy Paper +more setting, or on the light card stock setting. It is important to have a nice sharp blade and not over cut. A new clean mat is also recommended as anything left on your mat can make the paper tear also. In order to figure out the best setting for your machine, we recommend doing a test cut, a circle or star shape is the best, before starting!
The peonies look so elegant yet so simple to make. I can’t wait to try it. I plan on making a bouquet and wreath. Thanks for the tutorial!
Sounds beautiful! 🙂
I have inadvertently made a dozen peonies with 20 gauge wire stems instead of 18 gauge and they’re not staying very vertical in my arrangements, understandably! Do you have any recommendations for adding stiffness to the stem ? Thanks!
Hi Chevon,
A simple fix for this would be to use floral tape to attach an 18 gauge wire to your already existing 20 gauge wire 🙂
I apologize if this question has already been answered, but what are the actual measurements for this flower? The SVG flowers are obviously smaller. Thank you!
Hi Marina! At the moment, there is a bug in Cricut Design Space that is downsizing files. Please contact Cricut to let them know about this so they know to get it fixed. We are hoping they get this fixed as soon as possible.
In the meantime, we are telling everyone to reference the PDF for correct sizing then resize accordingly in design space.
Thank you so much! I will let them know now! 🙂
Seu trabalho é magnÃfico! Conheci há poucos dias. Estou encantada com tanta delicadeza e criatividade. Parabéns!!!
Thank you!!
Hi, where re the directions to assemble the frosted peony? Usually shown underneath? thank you!
This post just has the video tutorial, but there’s a photo tutorial in this similar project: https://liagriffith.com/paper-peonies-in-plum/
I’m trying to make the bouquet for a friend of mine. Her wedding is in April 2018. I have downloaded the SVG and am trying to cut these flowers on my cricut machine; however, when I load the files into design space I can’t physically see them in the canvas area, although it’s clear that they are there. Any thoughts on what this issue is?
The paper-papers website refers you to purchase the 8.5 x 11 sheets of paper, which is what I purchased; this seems consistent with your youtube videos. However, when I attempt to cut them, the only options are a 12 x 12 canvas or larger. In the past and with other SVGs I have the option to choose a smaller paper size, and the cuts are just spread across more sheets. This option doesn’t seem to be available for this cut file? Any troubleshooting input is appreciated.
Hi Kristen! The issues you’re having are likely with Design Space. Right now, I’m having trouble using Design Space in Chrome (I can’t ungroup, resize, or cut anything– even after updating the latest plugin). However, DS works fine in Safari! So my first thought it that you might want to try a different browser. Have you tried zooming out? Sometimes the uploaded designs just appear on random areas outside the initial view. As for the paper size, I’m testing this now in Safari and am able to select 8.5×11 paper for each color. You can still cut the project with 12×12 selected, but make sure the designs are within the 8.5×11 size on the mat. I hope this helps! If you still have trouble, definitely contact Cricut customer service.
Hello! For the peonies, what size should I set my machine to cut. Or are these already in correct sizes?
The SVG file is set to the size our flowers are at. You’re welcome to make them larger or smaller if you’d like 🙂
The SVG file at the end of the post is not the same as your video shows, nor does it match the accompanying PDF template file. The SVG has the peony petals broken apart into multiple pieces versus one flower with a hole in the center and the second, two-petal piece. The fringe and the little round disk are both missing. I checked the SVG at paperpaper and that is not the correct one either. Can you post the one from your video, which in the video you refer to as your second design?
Thanks, Belinda
Thanks for letting us know, Belinda! The correct PDF and SVG files have been added.
Where is the center? I just downloaded the peony paper flower svg, I didn’t see it. Thank you
The correct file has been added to the site! Please re-download.
Could not download SVG file shoes something about ZIP?
The SVG is inside the Zip file, you just have to extract it (on a Mac, you just double-click the Zip folder to do that).
The SVG for this flower is not available. I would love to get it. Please help. Thanks!
The downloads are available at the end of the post, let me know if you don’t see them!
