Woven Ribbon Heart Baskets
There is something about a handmade gift that feels more heartfelt. Especially when that gift is in the shape of a heart! This Valentine’s Day you can make something extra special by crafting a keepsake heart basket from beautifully printed ribbons in pinks, reds, and plums. These woven ribbon heart baskets are just large enough to hang on a door. And you can even tuck in a mini card and treat!
This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Ribbon by Design

These woven ribbon heart baskets are inspired by the classic paper version that is popular all over Scandinavia. Made from satin ribbon and a wool blend felt, you can use this heart each year to deliver a Valentine's Day surprise.
When designing these baskets, I selected two coordinating ribbons for each version to accentuate the woven look. I then picked matching wool blend felt sheets for each ribbon and created a template to cut both the felt and the peel-and-stick fabric fuse.
I found that cutting both of these on my cutting machine was simple and precise. Leaving the felt on the sticky cutting mat, I added each of the six pieces of fuse to both the pink and the red felt pieces. Then, very carefully, following the graphic below, fused the ribbon around the felt by removing paper from the fuse one strip at a time. This did take me a few prototypes to find the best method as the fuse is very sticky to the touch.
I created a full photo tutorial where you can see my steps for adding the ribbon onto the felt backer, then weaving the two folded heart halves into one to create your own eye-catching baskets.

Back to the TopDid you cure the adhesive with 15 minutes in the dryer per the fuse instructions, or do I not need to worry about that? Thanks! These are so lovely.
I think it is a good idea to let it cool. Once that is done, it should be good to work with.
How much ribbon and felt is needed for each heart?
You will need one sheet of each color of felt and about 3 yards of each ribbon. Maybe less.
Thank you for this wonderful tutorial. I have made the paper version for years. So great to have a fabric version I can make for my 2 year old granddaughter!
These were so fun to make. 🙂
Thank you so much Lia and can’t wait to make with my grandson. I know he will enjoy making it and gifting to his mom who is a nurse.
It is a version you can use again and again.
