Elegant Paper Cut Christmas Cards
Christmas week is here! For your last minute handmade Christmas cards, consider making one of these gorgeous paper cuts. They are in the same style as the winter village and woodland paper lanterns and are a keepsake that can be used as framed art or to place on the shelf for holidays to come. If you have a personal cutting machine, you can make them quickly by using the SVG file we provide below. If you are good with the craft knife, here is the printable template as well. Enjoy! ~ Lia

Do you a scoring tool for the crease?
You can. Or you can use a bone tool and ruler.
These are amazing thank you
You’re welcome, so glad you like this project!
Hi, how do you attach the coloured insert? Do you glue all around the edges or just on one half? And what glue/ tape do you use? Thanks in advance!
Hi Louisa! That really just depends on your style, you can attach just the crease or you can do one half, just make sure you give plenty of time for it to dry before writing on it! We attached just the crease, using a small amount of craft glue. Hope this helps!
Thank you! I am having a problem with the small circles, my scan n cut isn’t cutting them out very well, any idea why? I’ve got a new mat and a new blade so this isn’t the problem!
I’m so sorry Lousia, I’m not very familiar with the Scan N Cut! I’d suggest you reach out to Brother’s customer service, hopefully they can help you!
I am unable to open the file after the download is finished not sure why?
The files download as a zipped file, so you’ll need to unzip them to access the PDFs. If that doesn’t work, try a different web browser (for some reason, sometimes that does the trick!)
Hello, these are awesome.I love your site. I have got the Cricut Explore Air 2. I downloaded the SVG cut files but some reason it downloads as a web page so I can’t load the file into my cricut. Any ideas why?
Thanks so much! I’m not sure why it’s downloading as a web page– I checked the files and everything looks fine on my end. Maybe try a different web browser?
I tried making the elegant Christmas cards on my silhouette designer softare and I keep getting the message that it doesn’t support this particular svg
Hi Deb, I’m sorry you’re having trouble! I’m not sure what the problem would be since I’m not as familiar with Silhouette’s software. You may want to contact their customer service!
‘I’ve subscribed fora full year, your designs inspired me to believe I could make this Cameo create wonderful stuff! Thank You! Now… How do I get the svg’s to open in my silhouette program? They’ve downloaded, but are sitting in download folder, can not seem to figure out the leap to my cameo???
Help Please?
You will need the Silhouette Designer Edition software so that you can upload external files onto the Cameo 🙂 Good luck!
You’re works are awesome! I’m making your Christmas cards and I’m sending them to my family and friends! I did your Christmas village too, took it to work and put it on my desk, my colleagues loved it!!! Thank you!
Awesome!! Thank you so much! Merry Christmas 🙂
These are beautiful! I’m new to the cricut world (but loving my explore) but noticed that when I cut script a small piece will dislodge and get stuck on my blade. Any advice?
There are a couple of things that you could do that might fix the problem! The first thing I would say is that maybe your mat is losing some of its stickiness. The paper should stay flatly stuck to the mat, so if it’s not doing that, then maybe you should try a new mat. You could also try using a new blade. If the blade is too dull, it could be dragging against the paper causing it to rip and get stuck. The last thing that could help would be to use thicker paper. I’m not sure what paper you have been using, but if you use something a bit thicker it won’t be as flimsy and will hopefully be more sturdy when the machine is cutting. I hope this helps!
Do the SVG files work with the Expression?
Unfortunately no, the Expression can only cut designs that come with the cartridges
I have read so many articles about the blogger lovers but this post is actually a fastidious article, keep it up.
Thank you!
I just discovered your site and downloaded the cut ornament designs. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful work.
You are welcome and welcome to my site, I am glad you found it;-)
Thank you for your beautiful ideas. I’ve got the cricut explore and love it and I got the svg file for the cut out gift tags to print and cut. Loved them.
I have the personal cricut, the imagine, and the expression. Do you know how could sell them?
I would put them on Craigslist. That is how I sold one of my Silhouettes. 🙂
Lia, I wanted to thank you for all the wonderful cut paper projects you’ve given this holiday season. I’d forgotten how much I enjoy doing paper cuttings but now my house is filled with your beautiful patterns. Also little paper scraps, but I’m sure I’ll be able to pick them all up before Christmas! Thank you!
So good to hear! I hear you about the little scraps. 😉
I got rid of my Cameo and bought a Cricut just because of your gorgeous designs. You never disappoint.
Thank You!!!!
Alyce

Thanks for these! I’m taking out my Cricut to create a few of these now. I love the idea that they can be used for framed art too.

Why I can not download
Make sure your browser allows pop ups. I am sure that is the issue.
