Shoebag1Summer is on its way and so it's the perfect opportunity to make some travel plans. If, like me, you like to pack a couple extra pairs of shoes for your trip, you will be glad that today we are sharing a tutorial to sew your own travel shoe bag. This quick-sew pattern can be knocked up in no time, meaning that you will have the time to whip up one bag for every pair of shoes you own! We are also sharing the files for the iron-on labels. If you have a cutting machine, you can download our SVG file below, cut onto gold iron-on vinyl and follow the iron-on instructions to apply the words to the shoe bag. If you don't have a cutting machine, you can download the PDF below. Print out onto paper and use that template to cut out on iron-on vinyl by hand. We have reversed the PDF version so that you don't have to cut out such intricate details!

The great thing about this simple shoe bag pattern is that it can be downsized or upsized to suit your needs. You could make smaller bags to use for jewelry or make-up, or make a larger pouch to use as a laundry or PE bag. We used a Babylock serger to create ravel-free seams. It's a great machine to have if you want to create a professional look but its not essential! We also used our button hole attachment to create clean and simple button holes through which we threaded our cord. Most sewing machines will include this function but if your machine doesn't, then you can find lots of button hole tutorials on YouTube - we will be filming ours soon! Finally, I would suggest choosing a good quality cotton linen for this shoe bag - it'll be easy to throw into the washing machine and will last you years!
