Crepe Paper Icelandic PoppiesContinuing with our mission to fill the world with extra fine crepe, we have these gorgeous crepe paper Icelandic poppies! I have to say that I love these flowers. They are fairly easy to make, especially compared to crepe paper Juliet roses that I shared last week. Because real Icelandic poppies come in all sorts of colors, you can really play around with a variety of papers for these. These crepe paper Icelandic poppies are also a great project for anyone who is just getting into paper flower making!

Start by gathering your crepe for this project. The extra fine paper is perfect for creating the delicate waves that you see in real poppy petals. We made our bouquet of poppies using Coral paper, but they would also look great in Vanilla, Chiffon, Honeysuckle, Blush or White. We used Juniper for the leaves and the green centers of the poppies, and then added in more leaves using Fern. All of the stamen are made with the Chiffon color. Once you have your crepe ready, you will also need 20mm cotton spun balls, 18 gauge floral wire, floral tape and a little bit of text weight paper for the crown in the centers of the flowers. Print the PDF template below to use as a guide for cutting your crepe flower pieces. After cutting your petals, set them aside and prepare your stems.

Follow the step-by-step tutorial below for crafting your crepe paper Icelandic poppies! If you are making Chiffon petals, you can create some variation from the Chiffon stamen by using an art marker to add a bit more of a yellow-y color to the stamen. Add the crown to the center with hot glue. Use the SVG version if you have a cutting machine, or find the hand-cut version on the PDF template. In the last steps of the tutorial, I mention that you should kerfuffle the flowers before gifting or displaying them.
