Felt Southern Magnolias
We are all about the magnolia this holiday season! Our designer Krista created these felt southern magnolias for our November collection, and they are absolutely stunning. Our arrangement below includes two full blooms and one partial bud bloom, both of which we will show you how to make in our tutorial below.
This felt flower is a beginner-friendly project. Feel free to comment below if you have any questions while crafting!

This flower is known for its large beautiful blooms, and our felt southern magnolias are no exception. Each bloom is about 6″ across when finished. And if that isn’t striking enough, each stem has numerous dark green double-sided leaves with their signature brown undersides.
When you are finished crafting these beauties, share them with us by tagging #MadeWithLia or posting pictures to our Facebook page for members. If you want to get even more creative with this one, you can always use our flower pattern to create a magnolia branch instead of stems.
Crafting tip: We recommend using a cutting machine because of the tapered stamen pieces, but they can still be cut by hand with detail scissors.

How to Make Felt Southern Magnolias
- Gather your craft tools and materials. Then download the flower pattern on the right hand side at the top of this post.
- Cut out felt according to pattern using a Cricut Maker or scissors. Using detail scissors is recommended for cutting the tapered fringe by hand. Cut the leaves out of just the brown felt for now.
- Glue an 18-gauge floral wire to the center of the leaf. Apply a healthy amount of tacky glue to the entire leaf. This will allow your double-sided leaves to be more flexible than with using hot glue.
- Press the leaf onto the dark green felt until fully adhered.

Lia , just curious as to why a low temp hot glue?
This was an older suggestion. At this point, I do prefer the high temp because it has a wonderful pointed tip. Personal preference. . . that changes sometimes. 😉 https://feltpaperscissors.com/product/high-temperature-glue-gun-kit/
Lia thank you for your reply however Hazelnut felt is sold out…what other color is ok to use?
I was thinking of cedar Patricia Keane
Yes or Peat Moss would work if you like the heathered look!
Lia How many sheets of each felt color needed to make this Magnolia flower? Thank you…Patricia Keane
