To make these ABC blocks, you will need a cutting machine. We used our Cricut to trim each of the letters onto various colors of vinyl. Find links for both the cutting machine and the vinyl in Shop this Project! Choose your vinyl colors and upload the SVG file directly to your cutting machine. If you do not have a cutting machine, one way to get around this is to find some nice pretty alphabet stickers at your local craft store. Other than the vinyl letters, you will also need some wood cubes to make your ABC blocks. We found a nice basic set of unfinished blocks on Amazon (link in Shop this Project). After you trim your letters, stick them directly onto the blocks. Easy!
For longer lasting ABC blocks, you are welcome to spray a little wood varnish over the letters after adhering them. Keep in mind that your children may be putting these in their mouths, so we definitely recommend choosing a natural option or water-based varnish. I am using this alphabet on slightly larger wooden blocks to spell out my new grandson’s name. I have uploaded another font to add his date of birth which doesn’t quite match. I think it would be lovely to have a matching number font to the Retro Alphabet to create a special new baby gift?
Hi Diana! Well I’m not sure what happened because the original file did include the numbers to match. The SVG has been updated 🙂
