Cardstock Fig and Pomegranate Ornaments
Cardstock Fig and Pomegranate Ornaments
Seeds of Good Fortune
Pomegranates and figs come into season just as the days grow short, and their jewel-toned centers feel made for the holidays. Our cardstock ornaments slice each fruit open so the best part faces out, from the pomegranate’s bright seeds to the fig’s soft, speckled middle.

Each ornament is built from layers of cardstock folded at the center and glued back to back, so the flat pieces open into a full, rounded fruit when you hang it. For the pomegranate, Red Wine forms the skin and seed pods, with tiny Pink Champagne dots for the seeds and Linen for the pale pith. The fig pairs a Sugar Plum skin with a blush Pink Champagne interior and fine Red Wine seeds. Make one fig cut open and leave another whole, and you’ll see how pretty the ribbed shape looks from every side. The seed details are small, so a cutting machine saves plenty of time, and a thin line of craft glue keeps each layer crisp. A loop of twine at the top finishes them, ready for the tree.
Pomegranates have stood for abundance and good fortune for thousands of years, and figs are among the very first fruits people ever cultivated. Hang a few together on the tree, tie one onto a wrapped gift in place of a tag, or tuck them into our Paper Hellebore Winter Wreath for a touch of deep color. A set of four in a small box makes a thoughtful hostess gift, too.

FAQs
Can I make these ornaments without a cutting machine?
Yes. You can cut the pieces by hand with detail scissors, though the small seed dots take some patience. Our Cricut cutting chart has the cardstock settings if you do use a machine.
Can I make them in other colors?
Absolutely. Swap in any cardstock shades you like to match your holiday decor.
Are these ornaments sturdy enough for the tree?
Yes. The layered cardstock holds its shape well, and the ornaments are light enough for even a small branch.
Can I display them after the holidays?
Absolutely. Strung together, they make a sweet garland for a kitchen window or a fall table.
