This is a great intermediate macrame project, so if you’re more of a beginner, you may want to check our beginner macrame projects first. Otherwise scroll on down for the tutorial!
Let’s make a coast to the new year
We are calling 2021 the year of creativity. And what better way to ring in the new year than by trying something new or creating something that makes you happy? We can’t wait to inspire you all year long and teach you some new skills!
While I love this color combination that Meagan used for our macrame coasters, you can always use whatever color of macrame cord you prefer.
Crafting tips: The knots we used for these color block macrame coasters are: Larks Head Knot and Half Hitch Knot. If you need a refresher, make sure to watch our video courses on how to make these knots.

I’m really excited to learn how to macrame. Thanks for the tutorial, but I’m wondering about how long should the fringe be?
Our fringes on these coasters are around a half-inch long.
thanks!
Beautiful! What were the colors used in your example? Thanks
Thanks Linda! Natural, Misty Rose, and Orange.
Do you use the 3mm or 4mm cord? This page says 3mm, but the pdf instructions say 4mm.
Thanks for catching that! We used 3mm.
