Crepe Paper Button Fern Video Tutorial
Cute as a Button
Though we’re deep in the heart of winter, we don’t need to wait until spring to see fresh pops of green again. When flowers feel distant, and the landscape rests, foliage takes center stage — and this next project is a perfect example of beauty that doesn’t need to shout. Our Crepe Paper Button Fern offers understated elegance and a project that feels grounding and deeply satisfying. For added support, we've included a video tutorial to lend a hand as you work your magic.

Because this project is a bit labor-intensive, we consider it an intermediate make. So if you’re looking for a craft that’s steady and accessible while building your crepe paper skills — we think you’ll enjoy this. Our Crepe Paper Button Fern features the plant’s signature rounded leaflets and gracefully arching stems, which together create gorgeous organic movement. Moreover, as you begin to work through the layers, you’ll see how repetition and subtle technique come together to create a piece that feels remarkably lifelike.
To support you every step of the way, this project also includes a detailed video tutorial that walks through the techniques used to construct each frond and assemble the branch. Watching this Crepe Paper Button Fern come together makes it easier to understand how small details — like spacing, curling, and tension — work together to create movement and realism. Overall, this is a project that gently stretches your skills without feeling overwhelming.
A particularly awesome characteristic of crepe paper greenery is its fabulous versatility. Use it as a stand-alone statement in a vase, layer it into a winter arrangement, or pair it with florals for added texture and depth. Our Crepe Paper Button Fern’s gentle curves and classic silhouette make it a timeless addition to your handmade greenery collection, so it's perfect for styling year-round.
Once your Crepe Paper Button Fern is complete, we’d love to see how you’ve styled it! Share your finished project on social media using #MadeWithLia, and don’t forget to upload photos to our crafters’ community.

Back to the TopIt says to resize to 12×22, but the double sided crepe paper only hits 10 inches. Is there a solve for that? Can I just make it smaller?
This is the resize for the whole project. This is only because Cricut sometimes sizes things differently from the original. Once you confirm the size is correct, hide the designer notes, and you are back to the 12×10 paper. You can attach your subgroups so that Cricut does not move them around, and you are good to go! (I have this on my list for a quick tip video). 😉
Excited to make this but the video tutorial doesn’t seem to be at the link provided.
The video will be posted later this month. It is still in editing.
