I don’t like to put all the leaves on one stem. I went to College for floral arranging and was taught to only cut the leaves off that will be directly in water. Usually, in an arrangement you can use all the greenery you can get. It’s your decision to do the leaves your way but I think it would be very helpful if you could at least let us know where on the stem the leaves would go — sometimes we just want the leaves on the flower stem!!!
Hello Helene! Yes, I owned a flower shop at one point and know exactly what you are saying. When you are making these flowers for larger arrangements you can place the leaves closer to the flower. However, as I talked about in my paper flower arrangement master class, I personally like to add the leaves on different stems so I can place them where I like in the arrangement. And the best option is to have a leaf or two on the flower stem with a stem of separate leaves for each flower. This seems to maximize their impact for me. But I totally agree that it is a personal choice for what works best for you. 🙂 I will be with Meagan in the next live class and will mention where to add the leaves.
Lia, thank you so much for taking my comments into consideration. I do appreciate it and all that you and your crew do.
You are so welcome, Helene! We appreciate you too!! 🙂
Beautiful! I am sorry I haven’t been able to watch live, but watched same day. Love the way you are putting together the tutorials.
Thank you! Alex
So good to hear you like the new format.
Although it looked fairly easy to do in the live video, I found that these centers were a challenge to do and have them turn out as nice as the photos above.
I wasn’t there, but I am guessing those centers are tricky. I will have to go watch the video now. 🙂
What can I use instead of pan pastels?
You can try any type of dried pigment or even a brush marker. We use PanPastel because it gives the best results.
Thank you for whatever you did. I can now open everything. So looking forward to this flower!
Yay! We are thinking it is an error that happens with Windows OS. 🙂
I am unable to open files for this project. I am receiving this error:
Unable to open. Please advise.
This seems to be a Windows OS issue so we have added the two files separately. Hit refresh on the page and you will see the newest version.
very strange: my system is unable to unzip the folder (“system can’t find the path” ???)
I used 4 different sw to unzip, tried to unzip the main folder as well as those insid – *.pdf and * svg – nothing works. Very strange …
I’m sure there’s an older folder anywhere from previous years or a similar dahlia project, I’ll try to find it on my pc
Hey there. This is a new design so let me see if we can troubleshoot and see why it is not opening for you. I will email you directly.
I’m looking forward to my first member-make. I apologize if I missed this information, but will we get directions for the Totally Tangerine Crepe Paper Dahlia before workshop?
Thank you,
Sherie
Hello Sherie! The full tutorial will be available right after the workshop. 🙂
Thanks so much!
I am having the same problem as Kendra. When I double click I see Microsoft edge HTML document and adobe acrobat document but when I click on either one it pops up a warning that says compressed (zipped) folders error Windows cannot complete the extraction, the destination file could not be created. I’ve never had trouble before.
Thank you!
We have added the two files separately, so you should be able to download now.
It’s because Mercury is in retrograde, it messes with technology! I also lose a lot of household appliances during the retrogrades!🥺
So true! And it seems emails don’t go through… texts get lost… all that and them some. lol
Frangipani pattern please
We have one! Here is the link. https://liagriffith.com/crepe-paper-plumeria-flower/
What color is the Sunshine
That template will be updated in just a minute. Sorry!
Thank you
Good morning, It is giving me an error when I got to download the totally tangerine dahlia.
I just double checked and it worked on my end. Double check your “downloads” folder on your computer. It might be there.
Hi Lia, Sorry I can download the zip file but when I go in that file to select the SVG it pops up a warning that says compressed (zipped) folders error Windows cannot complete the extraction, the destination file could not be created.
I just tested it again and it looks ok on my end. Are you able to unzip the main folder? If not, make sure it is fully downloaded before you try. Once you can open the folder and see the two files inside, you will not be able to “open” the SVG, but instead you can upload it into your cutting machine design space. Let me know if you are still having trouble and we can help you sort it out.
