And the DIY Oscar statue goes to…YOU! The 92nd Annual Academy Awards show airs February 9th, and it is always full of glitz and glam. Other than watching the red carpet trends, my favorite part of the night has to be getting together with friends for a fun watch party.
So this year I thought I would share my tradition with you all! Oscar party decor is so much fun to play around with, and any worthwhile Oscars event would not be complete without its own DIY Oscar statue.
Everybody wins!
To plan your own Oscars watch party, start by creating your guest list and sending out your invitations. Hop over to this post to download our tres chic (and editable!) glittery gold invitations. Of course, gold is a natural choice of color scheme for an Oscar party.
Use the template below to create your papercut awards to set out onto your tables or give as party favors for your guests. I have included a PDF for those who are hand cutting and an SVG for anyone using their cutting machine. I picked up a pack of glittery metallic card stock from Michaels and I have loved all the colors that it comes with. If you’re looking to just make this DIY Oscar statue, feel free to opt for the individual sheets instead! Use the template to trace the Oscar shape onto your card stock, and then cut your slits down the center of the body to put the 3D statue together. When he’s all assembled, your DIY Oscar statue stands at 10.5 inches tall. What a man!
Stay tuned for some Oscar party games that I’ll be sharing with you soon! Oscar ballots? Oscar Bingo? Yes please! And don’t forget to share photos of your glamorous Oscar Parties with me! Send your photos in to hello@liagriffith.com, or tag your Instagram photos with #MadeWithLia. Have fun! ~Lia

I am helping a friend make 50 of this fun Oscar cutout but she wants them to be 18″ to 24″ tall. I am trying to figure out how to make that work on my Cricut Explore Air. Is there anyway to get the image of one instead of 2. Trying to make it the size I want is not working because of having two side by side. I’m not sure if I am making sense? I’m excited to start this project.
Yes, you just need to hide one of the graphics after you have inserted the image on to your canvas in Design Space 🙂 Have fun!
Spectacular, and an Oscar goes to…… Lia Griffith and team! This is so incredible Lia. Will have to get some of that paper at Michaels. Hope they have ad with coupon from Sunday paper. My head is busy thinking of what else could use this statue for.
Even new projects on Sundays, wow, you all really deserve that Oscar for Achievement and down right wonderfulness. Thank you so very much for all you share.
Happy Sunday.
Thank you so much Jane!! I have found lots of fun uses for that glittery card stock 😉
Love it! I have used that same paper before, but had a hard time finding the right setting on my Cricut – what setting do you use?
Thanks!
I just use a heavy card stock for the glitter paper. It cuts like a dream.
Great, thank you!
