This is such a simple yet satisfying DIY project that adds great texture to your Holiday tree. Our Scandinavian Christmas ornament is made using natural willow, and a little twine to bind the points. This decoration is one of many that we made for the Michaels Dream Tree Challenge so you can find all materials online or at your local store (shop this project below!). We began this project with lengths of curly willow which we cut into 4″ lengths. We then used 5 lengths to form a star shape and secured the points with a low temperature glue gun. Once the glue was dry we bound the points with a little natural twine to add even more glorious texture – perfect! You could add a loop from which to hang your Scandinavian Christmas ornament but we just sat our little stars in amongst the branches of our tree. Simple!
If you plan to get crafty this Holiday season and want the patterns and tutorials for our other handmade Christmas decorations, you can find our glitzy paper geode decoration here, our cute Scandinavian houses here and our fun pinecone bird ornaments here – enjoy! Simplicity of this is so contenting. I Made several of this kind of star few years ago, just much bigger, love how they display good feelings. Daughter still has hers, uses it at Holiday time. Where mine is who knows, buried somewhere in our cluttered shed, what a shame. I bought sticks somewhere few years ago, still have several left in bundle out there, hopefully can find them as I’d like to make few for our tree.Maybe hubs will lend a hand with them. Been working on little house ornaments using pretty 2 sided metallic paper in different white to silver shades. Will use some of silver paper to make geode’s. You have inspired me so much I’m most likely making too many projects at once but think I’ll do what I can and after my d-day (12/7) will just have to let go and quit.
Truly love this, the texture and look, meaning of these stars are universal. Happy Daze.
We loved making these stars, so simple and so adorable to stick into any gaps in the tree. If you can’t find the sticks that you bought a few years ago, we just picked some up from Michaels to make ours. Very easy! And it’s also fun to play around with different colors of sticks if you want–maybe you can find some gold ones? I think that would be lovely! And don’t worry Jane, we also take on a lot of crafting projects at once 😉
