DIY Tropical Tote Bag

Take the Beach With You

With summer approaching, we have the beach on our minds. Because we can’t spend all our time in the sand, we designed this DIY tropical tote bag so we could take an island breeze with us wherever we go. There’s always use for a new tote bag, and this is so easy to whip up for yourself or as a gift for a friend!

Cutting the Tropical Leaves

At the bottom of the post, you will find both PDF and SVG versions of the design to either cut by hand or use a cutting machine. If you are using the SVG, you can cut the design onto any color of iron-on. We used a copper iron-on, and you can follow the link in Shop this Project to get some for yourself. If you are using the PDF, you will need to get some iron-on transfer paper for inkjet printers (link below). Once you have the transfer paper, print the leaves directly onto the sheet. You can choose between different ocean blues and teals in our download.

After trimming the leaves, follow the instructions for your specific iron-on to apply the design to a canvas tote. We recommend placing a cloth napkin or something similar in between the iron and your iron-on material when applying it.
