Easy DIY Candle Kits

This month Michaels gave us Michaels Makers the “Back in Class Challenge”. Did you know that Michaels offers free classes in their stores? You can try out a new craft skill for just the cost of supplies. This is a great way to plan creative time for yourself this summer. Another great way to explore your creativity is by trying out a craft kit. Michaels has everything from sewing kits to art kits and everything in between. I popped over to Michaels to explore their selection and decided to try their candle making kit.
Candles are always a great gift, no matter what time of year. With Mother’s Day, summer weddings, birthdays and other occasions to celebrate, making a DIY candle can be the perfect handcrafted gift. Though I am working on my perfect recipe for my beeswax and coconut oil candle that I will share here soon, another quick option it to find one of the great kits that are offered at Michaels. With all of the bits and pieces you will need in the kit they make it so easy. To personalize my candles, I chose a simple glass container and used my favorite foiling technique, double-stick take on glass, to add a bit of elegance to my project. Within an hour I made two gorgeous candles that will decorate my loft and would also be a perfect gift. I have created the steps for my foiling technique in the photos below. You can find the easy-to-follow instructions on how to make the candles in the kit itself. Oh so fun! This is also a great project to make with kids and make a great gift for grandma. Go explore! Get creative! ~ Lia
