Become a MemberIf you’re wanting to try something new for your winter decor, or if you think you just need a little more fur in your life, then we’ve landed on the perfect DIY project for you – faux fur pillows! We particularly love white faux fur because it can match with any style of decor and it can be so inviting. Fur can be a great home decor accent to add a little texture, and it is especially cozy in the colder months. We found our fur at our local Fabric Depot but found a similar white shag fur online.
Start by downloading the printable instructions below. This will include a full materials list, and it will give you measurements of fur that you need to make your pillow. We made one lumbar pillow and one square pillow. You can find pillow forms at your local fabric or home decor store. Whatever size your pillow form is, you will need an inch more of fabric in each direction. There are a number of types of faux fur, and we used Shannon Fabrics brand with a 2-3 inch pile (pile refers to the length of the fur). You will also need a zipper to make your fur pillow covers.
Before you begin making your faux fur pillows, be sure to reference our tips and tricks for sewing with faux fur! Once you feel comfortable with the material, you can continue with the printable instructions and photo tutorial to sew your pillows. You can make one as an accent for your bed, or you can make a whole set to outfit your living room for winter. Stay tuned for our tutorial to make a furry blanket using this same fabric!
