Felt Cantaloupe & Honeydew Melon
One in a Melon
Fresh, ripe, and just the right amount of sweet — there’s nothing quite like a yummy piece of fruit to start the day off right. While these beginner-friendly Felt Cantaloupe and Honeydew Melons aren’t nearly as tasty as their real-life counterparts — they’re the perfect craft to brighten up your summer and add some fun to your felt-food collection! If you’re looking for something light and refreshing to while away the long summer days, then I highly recommend giving this project a try.

Though they may seem like a challenge, these Felt Cantaloupe and Honeydew Melon slices are remarkably easy. Additionally, they’re an excellent introduction to 3-D construction for beginners and little makers, too. This project relies on both the blanket and straight stitch to come together, with a bit of fancy hand-embroidered detailing to create the classic look of a cantaloupe rind. We recommend using a printable stabilizer, such as Sulky Fabri-Solvy, to help achieve those crisp, geometric lines just right. However, be sure to follow the product instructions carefully for optimal results.
I almost always associate cantaloupe and honeydew with bright, sunny mornings and slow, relaxing brunches. These Felt Cantaloup and Honeydew Slices are perfect for creating a fun make-believe breakfast platter. Pair them with our Felt Waffles or Bacon, Eggs, and Pancakes for a full breakfast-in-bed spread! We love the bright, energizing colors of this project, as well as its fun textures, making it a perfect sensory toy for your littles and a great way to support imaginative play for your bigger littles.
So if you're craving a project that feels fresh and playful, grab your felt and get stitching. And as always, we’d love to see what you make—be sure to share your finished Felt Cantaloupe and Honeydew Melon slices with us using #MadeWithLia! Also, don’t forget to upload your project pics into our crafters’ community so we can celebrate you, together. Happy Crafting!
Stitches used: Blanket stitch, straight stitch

Back to the TopHi, I tried downloading this file but it shows a bunch of scrambled letters
Hi Vicki! This is a zipped folder so you should find it in the downloads folder on your computer. Just double-click to open, and the three different files are inside. The SVG is only for uploading into cutting machine software, so it will not “open” on your computer. But the others are PDF files that you can both read on your computer or print. Let me know if you have any other issues, and we can help troubleshoot. 🙂
Hi, I got the zip to open but the photo tutorial is missing
Hi Vickie. I am very confused. I am opening the zip file and see three files, including the photo tutorial. How many are you counting?
Hi, I had to download it again and it was there!
Oh good!
