Become a MemberOur Felt Forest Dragon is perfect for advanced crafters ready to delve into a project that combines artistry and skill. If you’ve made our stuffies before, this project will elevate your skills and move you further along your crafting journey. However, if the call of adventure is too loud to ignore, then we encourage you to give this project a try. With leafy-shaped scales, branch-like horns, and poseable wings and tail (thanks to chenille wire), this dragon is a masterpiece. The result? A timeless, mystical guardian of the woods that looks as though it just awoke from 100 years of slumber.
Dragons have captured people's imaginations for centuries. Indeed, these great beasts appear in myths and folklore from every corner of the globe. From the fire-breathing dragons of European legends to the benevolent, wise dragons of Asian mythology, these creatures symbolize power, mystery, and magic. With this in mind, our Felt Forest Dragon draws inspiration from these rich traditions, embodying the untamed beauty of a woodland spirit.
This project showcases a variety of intricate stitching techniques, including the blanket stitch, whip stitch, ladder stitch, detached chain stitch, and double-running stitch. So, as you work, we hope you appreciate how these methods bring your dragon to life, adding texture and dimension to its scales and wings. Ultimately, we’ve designed this dragon to challenge your skills in the hope that it brings you a sense of pride and accomplishment.
Once complete, use your Felt Forest Dragon as a stunning centerpiece, fantasy-themed decor, or a special gift for someone who adores mythical creatures. However you choose to show your dragon off, it’s sure to enchant all who see it. But be sure to share with us as well! OMG! She’s so cute. Perfect mate for the 1st dragon. I haven’t done an advanced pattern yet, but I’m gonna give it a try!
You can do it! If you have not taken the stuffie track in Craft Academy yet, you might find it really helpful too.
