Felt Leaf Wreath for Fall
Falling into Autumn
I recently decorated my front porch for fall. But before I reveal it to you, I want to share the pattern and tutorial for my pretty fall felt leaf wreath. This wreath features gorgeous autumn colors swirling around on a rustic twig wreath. The other fall décor projects in this picture are my felt succulents and my antique paper hydrangea.

I purchased the twig wreath base at Michaels, and I have seen similar wreaths in garden nurseries and home stores. The inside measures 10″ and the entire diameter is around 24″. Another great option is our Grapevine Wreath if you don’t have as much space for the larger wreath. Once you have your wreath form, download our leaf pattern below and use that template to cut the felt. We have also included an SVG file if you have a cutting machine that will cut felt.
For our felt leaf wreath, we used a variety of wool blend felts in burnt orange, purple, deep reds, and light grays (see our color suggestions below!) If you like these colors, feel free to replicate what we did here. Or use whatever colors you like best!
Once you’ve cut all your felt leaves, use a low-temperature hot glue gun to form and attach the leaves around the wreath. Remember to layer the leaves slightly and work them into the very center of the wreath. We also added a few felt leaves to the outside of the wreath to give the effect of leaves blowing in the wind.
Now that you’ve crafted your felt leaf wreath, attach a length of string to the wire frame at the back and hang it from your front door. This handmade wreath would also look great above a window or a bed—or as a centerpiece for a beautiful Thanksgiving table. I’d love to see your version of my felt leaf wreath and how you decorate with it, so make sure to share it on Instagram and use the hashtag #MadeWithLia.

So beautiful! May I ask how your wreath has held up over the years? Any need for Scotchgard or something to keep it from getting moldy on a sheltered front door?
Keep the wreath dry for sure. Before you store it after fall, make sure it is completely dry. This should keep it from getting moldy.
We love this DIY project you did so we decided to share it with our audience!

Thank you for your inspiration!!!
I’m in the process of making the felt leaf wreath but am having difficulty keeping the crease in the leaves when I pinch them. I have resorted to trying to glue them but it is difficult to get a thin crease. Am thinking about trying to iron them. What is the trick?
What we did was add a couple small dots of hot glue near the base of the leaf and toward the center, then pinch closed. You can kind of fold them open after drying to get the crease crisp.
I made this last evening in under an hour. I handcut the leaves and the tip about pinching them does really help make them look more real. It turned out beautifully, it was easy and inexpensive with Michael’s coupons. thank you.
That’s great! I’m glad it turned out so nice 🙂
Es preciosa la combinación de colores, gracias Lia.
