We are always keen to come up with fresh new DIY home decor ideas for you to recreate at home. Every house becomes a home when you include thoughtful, handcrafted items where you can. Today’s project is the ideal DIY for adding a touch of handcrafted glam to your home. Using a flat sheet of foam from FloraCraft®Make It: Fun Foam Sheets made by our friends at Make It Fun Crafts, we created this gold leaf paper frame that can be used as a statement wall art piece, a picture frame or mirror – gorgeous! The foam sheets can easily be cut with the FloraCraft®StyroCutter®
To make this fun piece, begin by downloading our pretty leaf pattern below. We used around 240 leaves for this project, all of which we cut on our Cricut Explore Air® cutting machine. Our cutting machine also scored lines into the leaves which we folded slightly to add depth and dimension to the piece. We like to add folds when using metallic papers because it makes the light reflect from it in different directions which is just gorgeous.
Use a low temperature glue gun to assemble both the frame and attach the leaves being sure to layer the leaves generously to create depth. Once all the leaves are attached you can think about securing a picture or mirror to the back – gorgeous!

Spectacular, or any other awesome words to say how incredible this frame is. Love it so much and great way to play with my Cricut. Learning little by little. Such fun to see things come out. It’s like a miracle and saves me so much cutting, it’s my favorite craft tool now also, has made things so much easier and well done than by hand. Always enjoyed cutting out but seemed pieces weren’t the quality with hand cutting that they are now with my Cricut. Can’t say enuf good things about my favorite craft tool. Hubs bought me a nice little tool set for my Cricut before I even received it. Next thing I want to try is making a stencil.
Hope you’re all staying cozy and warm in Portland. Any snow?
Take care, have fun. Happy week what’s left of it. The weeks seem to go by so darned quickly.
I am so glad to hear you are enjoying your Cricut! No snow is Portland, but definitely lots of rain. Staying cozy as we can!
