Last summer I teamed up with my party planning friend Lisa Frank to create a fabulous vintage style Fourth of July party kit. One of the fun craft ideas Lisa created for us were these adorable handmade windsocks. They are so easy to make and great for any budget. You may not even need to go to the store for the materials! The main materials you need for these handmade windsocks are recycled toilet paper rolls and scraps of patterned fabric. I also love the idea of adding lace or pretty ribbons to your windsocks.
The best part of crafting handmade windsocks is that it is so easy to personalize and customize them. Find red, white and blue fabrics at your fabric store if you are making these cuties for Fourth of July, or choose your favorite colors of fabric to make them your own! Any way you make them, they are sure to bring a smile. Because this project is so simple, it is also a great (and safe!) activity to do with kids of any age. Thank you to Lisa for sharing her project with us! Follow the step-by-step photo tutorial below to make your own set of handmade windsocks.
If you are looking for more Fourth of July inspiration, browse our entire project section for the occasion. After you make your windsocks, check out our patriotic pinwheels or 4th of July Bingo for more fun activities to do with the kids! Enjoy ~ Lia

Thanks for the feature, Lia! My kids can’t stop playing with these. 🙂 We will be entertaining ourselves with these on the 4th at our local parade for sure.
