Inspirational quotes are enjoying huge popularity at the moment. We have shared several inspirational quotes as wall art during our time here and it has become a tradition that we share one at the beginning of each new year. For 2016 we are turning to American writer and poet Max Ehrmann. His beautiful 1927 poem “Desiderata” is widely known for its touching spirituality and is filled with inspiring words to live by. Our wall art features the words “Be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and stars. In the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul.” We are in love, and we hope you are too.
To have this beautiful piece of wall art, simply download the PDF below and print at home. We have three different color ways, rose gold foil, gold foil and black. They will fit an 8 x 10″ frame or can be hung using washi tapes for a relaxed look. Print for a friend or loved one but make sure you print one for yourself too!
We have hundreds of DIY projects, printables and tutorials coming your way this year. Follow us on Facebook, Pinterest, or Instagram to make sure that you never miss a project from the Lia Griffith studio. See you there! ~ Lia

Thank-you for this Be gentle with yourself quote, the words give comfort to me xx
I am so glad! They give comfort for me too, which is why I wanted to share the quote 🙂 I thought it was a great way to start out the new year
This is wonderful. Thank you for the three. Can you tell me what for is used for the “Be gentle…..” part? Is it in a Cricut cartridge?
It is not part of a Cricut cartridge, sorry! The font is called BetterFly.
Thank you!
Wondering about that incredible looking “branch” behind the quotes? Is that something you’ll be offering/featuring someday? love look of it. Looks like made with balsa wood? Hopefully will be project someday or part of one? Can Cricut cut balsa wood? You might have answered that before just cheating by asking you for answer. Happy week everybody
I picked up that tree from the West Elm Christmas sale. I wish it were a project that I did! Cricut can’t cut balsa wood unfortunately
Love it! Thank you. 🙂
You are so welcome!
How you have show cased this quote is so lovely, gives it importance it deserves. Thanks so much for sharing this quote. I have printed it out in the rose gold and gold. When I change my black cartridge will print out in the black to frame also.
Have been working on organizing some of my jewelry. When I see how much I have feel ashamed to buy more pieces. Think will be giving some of what I discovered today to friends, family, if they would like the pieces. I got a set of plastic containers, mostly smaller, I have used to organize so can see what is where. I’m making the felt envelopes for gifts and travel.
Daughter (youngest whom is 45 now) is getting so she likes what I have more than she did. She’s interested more in older/vintage style than she used to be not just trendy new pieces. Would love to give some pieces to oldest daughter but she’s still not speaking to me after many years. Her brother (who also lives in San Diego area) talks to her about me now and then trying to get an edge in little by little. She respects her big brother very much and he watches over her, she’s a bit skitsy, altho she’s 55 1/2 to his 53 but he’s a big fella – 6’3″ 230 lbs. –
Better get off here, get shower before it’s Monday. Happy week
Thank you so much, I’m glad you like the quote!! I thought that it was a great way to start off the new year. I am filling the studio with positive energy! Hopefully this quote can give you some positive energy too 🙂 It will also feel nice to sort through your old jewelry, I’m sure. Out with the old, in with the new!
