Do you have any recommendations for using the rest of the heavy crepe paper in the pack (that we don’t use for this class)? Especially the purple colors; they are lovely and it would be great to find a flower to use them on.
Yes! We do have some great flowers as well as foliage. If you use search you will see a new side bar that will give you options for materials. I just searched crepe paper then selected “heavy”. You can even select different colors. https://liagriffith.com/search/?lg-highlight=&lg-offset=0&lg-orderby=relevance&lg-order=desc&lg-per_page=12&lg-search=crepe+paper&lg-relation=and&lg-tax-lgm_project_attributes=35290
Hi, Leah and Company. I try to economize and substitute as much as I can on the materials. I’m a little disappointed to see that you can only buy the 10 and 12 mm cotton balls in packages of 100. That seems like an excessive amount for this project. Any chance you’ll be packaging smaller amount in the future?
For this class, I actually use all of the spun balls. I use them for flowers buds, flower centers and then the hypericum branches. There is not one wasted ball.
Wow! Thanks for letting me know. Glad to know they’re all going to be used.
🙂
I was wondering if all the colors in both 10 packs will be used. I have several colors of the extra fine & the heavy crate paper but not all of the colors from each pack. Would it be possible to let us know what colors from each pack will be used?
Thank you.
This will be my second go round with this class. A few new flowers are added. Can’t wait to try making some new flowers & add to the ones I have already made.
So happy you are here! At the end of the page under the bundle photo, you can see the exact colors used in this class.
you do have the best classes I have done.
I love to hear that! I put my heart into these to make sure you get everything. 🙂
Hi there, is there another color close to the Sugared Peach acrylic paint? I’m having trouble finding that color (other than ordering from Amazon for 1000% mark up, or from you guys, but I only need that)…ordering from Canada is not an option for just that, duty when shipping up here is nuts (which we never used to get charged, but my last three orders the duty has MURDERED me!)
I totally get it! You can use any color of a dusty pink. We will be adding some color with PanPastel.
The pattern for the anemone says DS blush crepe paper. I do not seen any DS in the supply list. Did I miss it?
Hi Beverly! We actually make the double-sided blush in one of the lessons. The list will call for the extra-fine blush. 🙂
In the photos the bouquet looks tied together with ribbon and pins, these aren’t on the supplies list, do we need them/ what do you recommend to get?
I did not use pins but I did wrap them first with bind wire, which is one the list. You can have some ribbon available if you would like to do the wrapped handle version.
Hello. I have watched the get ready tools and materials twice and cannot advance to the next section. Please help! Thank you!
You can just scroll to the bottom of the post and just above comments, click the Mark Complete button. That will allow you to advance.
Hi Team Lia, was wondering when you might be getting more Sugared Peach paint in stock? That’s the only thing I’m missing.
It has been shipped to the warehouse, so should be back in stock within a week or so.
Thank you!
I’d like to just make the tulips, clematis, and lavender stems for now. Can you please tell me tools I need for those three? Thank you.
Craft scissors, Detail scissors, Needle-Nose Tweezers, Wire cutters/needle-nose pliers, Curling tool, 3mm scalloped pinking shears, Mini Clips, and Fringe clip, and a hot glue gun. Paint brush and blending brush. If you are making the lavender with DIY laminiated crepe and I will be showing in the videos you will need an iron or heat press.
Where is the POSCA Khaki Green Marker used in class? Thanks.
I use it to clean up the upper stems of my hypericum berries and dark leaf stems of the smoke bush. Since they have no crepe paper covering, they often need a bit of a boost to clean them up.
I had the same question. Lia, do you mean you would use it if any of the paper were coming unraveled on the berry/leaf wires and leaving bare metal showing? Or were you using it to soften the transition between the fern and the juniper crepe wrapping on the smoke bush stem? Thanks!
You can use it to transition the colors and touch up crepe or paint if it overlaps onto the stems. We use this paint pen a lot, so even if you do not use it for this class, we will use it for other flowers and leaves. I know it is used on a February flower. It is a go-to and my miss for not demonstrating it in the video.
What Magenta color is used in this class there are 3 magenta’s on the site for the pan pastels. Thank you
Just the magenta. I believe there is a link in the materials list, but here it is again, just in case. https://feltpaperscissors.com/product/panpastel-artist-pastel-magenta-430-5/
For anyone looking for the paints- I had a really hard time finding the paint colors locally but I did. I bought the last bottle of both! Unfortunately, it seems they are both discontinued. I tried finding alternatives, and I found some, but they are not exact. The closest I found for Celery Shoot was FolkArt New Leaf Green. Celery Shoot is still a bit more muted, but it is that same greenish yellow type color. The closest I found to Sugared Peach was Americana’s Natural Buff- although Sugared Peach is a wee bit more muted pink, although still leaning towards the peach side. Ceramcoat’s Touch O’Pink is muted, but leans more towards pink.
Thanks, Lorena! The paint in our shop should be back in stock soon.
Are there alternative colours we can use for acrylic paints? I cant find sugared peach, but found coral cloud or light peach-if that works…
Yes, you can use any pinkish-tan color. Or even pale pink.
I have a lot of different weights of Pellon fusible web. I’d like to use what I have if I can. What type/weight do you recommend? Thank you!
Yes, use what you have! I would suggest the lightest weight you have on hand. You can even test a small square with crepe paper.
I hadn’t scrolled down to see the “mark complete” button–got it now.
Yay! I know, it should be larger and flashing. 😉
Hello!
I have watched the first two videos ‘Beginner’s Guide’ and ‘Get Ready’ and am trying to access the ‘Tools and Materials List’
but a message keeps coming up that I have not completed the previous lesson. When I click on ‘Previous Lesson’ it
goes back to the 1:57 minute introduction.
Please help!
No worries, just scroll down under the video and click the green button that says “Mark Complete”. That will allow you to move to the next lesson.
Couple things–I sent a message about not being able to move to next video–I hadn’t scrolled down to see the “Mark Complete” button, so I am good now. I do find it frustrating that many of the items I try to purchase are sold out. It would be nice to have a button “notify me when items are back in stock.” I would love to make just one order and save on shipping but with no idea when they will be available, it’s hard not to go to Amazon for some of the products. And one last thing–I took the survey but probably didn’t comment on one thing that would make such a difference when cutting out on a Cricut–it would be helpful if the crepe paper was 12″ and not 10″! When making multiple flowers I have to move the shapes around to keep to the grain line and not exceed 10″. Thanks for listening!
Thanks, Raquel, for that feedback. I think adding the “notify me” is a great idea. I passed that onto our dev team. We are in the process of updating the shop, so it might already be on the list.
As for the crepe paper size, the paper is made 20 inches long at the factory in Germany. If we had them cut it to 12 inches, there would be 8 inches of waste, which would double the crepe paper price and we do not want to do that. So, we work around it. I would set up the templates to fit the 10 inches for a long time, but then everyone asked that the templates be unlocked so they could move them themselves. I hope this all makes sense?
Hi Lia, I am so looking forward to this course because I loved the last one and learnt so much. Please can you tell me the width of the nib on the Posca pens? I am in the UK and they are sold from 1mm extra fine to 8mm.
You can use any of the posca pens in the same color. We are not really doing much fine detail work with them. If you want to get a finer point, the black would be my pick.
I have two questions about the materials. First, can we use tombow dual brush markers instead on the Karin markers? Lastly, what do you mean by approximately 6” for the vessel? Is there a size range that would work? It’s difficult to find something that’s actually 6” x 6” in my price range. Thanks!
Yes, you can use any markers you have on hand in that color range. You can certainly use something within that range, minus or a few inches for the vessel. The way I show how to make the final arrangement, you do not even need a vase but can finish it off like a bridal bouquet.
By any chance do you have any color substitutes for the paint colors? Can’t find any in my area. Thanks.
It would be hard for me to name substitutes that are exact matches without looking at them but I suggest to find a light lime green and a pale dusty pink.
I was on the fence about getting the “makeup type” brushes for the pan pastel. Those are a game changer! Highly recommend!!! The pastel goes on very smooth with less dust everywhere!
Yes! That is what we thought too! We noted that these are used for blending ink in stamping crafts too.
Do we need every color in the heavy crepe paper set? I have a lot of heavy crepe paper and was wondering the individual colors we need.
Hi Linda. I added the list of what I use in this lesson right above the bundle photo. This should help.
Do you have an alternative colors for the Craft Paint – Celery Shoot, Sugared Peach – these are very hard to get in NZ
You can use a light lime green and dusty pink color of paint. Any brand will work.
Getting ready to place an order to fill in materials for the Crepe Paper class. Just curious will we need all colors in each of the crepe paper bundles. I have lots of your crepe paper already. Are there any individual colors that we wont need?
Hi Susan. I use most (with some variation options) of the extra-fine crepe paper but only a few heavy ones. I added a list of the colors used in this lesson right above the photo of the bundle. Hope that helps.
Hi LG Team: Will we be using all of the colors in the two paper packs? I have a LOT Of LG paper on hand already. I’d rather supplement what I have with single packs of what I don’t have.
Thanks!
We will not be using every single color. Mixing up the colors from what I am using is also okay. I just suggest you use the same type of crepe (heavy, extra-fine, double-sided) to match what I am using.
I have completed the first video about 3 times and the program will not let me advance to the next video. Thanks for your help.
Have you watched all three “Get Ready” lessons? If so, the master class will start on January 2. Let me know if this is what you mean?
Hi Lia, I’m having trouble ordering supplies for this class. I can’t find the cart anywhere. When I add something to my cart I briefly see ‘view in cart’ but then it disappears and I can’t find it anywhere. The class bundle is not in the Felt, Paper, Scissors site so I’m open to your suggestions.
Thanks,
Linda
There is a small bag icon in the top right-hand corner of the site. That is your shopping bag/cart, and if you click on that, it will take you to your cart. In the menu on top of the image is a category called “bundles” that you can click on and find master class bundles. Be sure and sign up for the craft cash so you can get money back for all of your purchases.
