Why am I unable to repeat the Get Ready: Tools and Materials List?
Hi Beverly, we are not able to recreate this issue. Could you please email hello@liagriffith.com with more details about the problem so we can better help you? đ
What supplies are needed for the Butterly Magnolia Branch? Thank you.
The list is in the lesson materials. But I did copy it: YOU WILL NEED:
ďĄ CUTTING MACHINE (recommended)
ďĄ CRAFT SCISSORS
ďĄ WIRE CUTTERS/NEEDLE-NOSE PLIERS
ďĄ NEEDLE-NOSE TWEEZERS
ďĄ CURLING TOOL
ďĄ HOT GLUE GUN high temp
ďĄ FROSTED CRAFT PAPER Citrus Pack #3 & #4, Conifer Pack #4
ďĄ BIND WIRE brown
ďĄ FLORAL TAPE bark
ďĄ NATURAL BRANCH

Thank you. Since I cannot yet access the lesson 11 materials, this is very helpful. I can make sure I have what I need.
I have a computer question regarding opening the SVG cut files. I just got a new laptop and installed Cricut Design Space successfully. However, when I download the SVG file, it opens up as a Firefox HTML Document – not what I want! Any thoughts on how to correct this? Thanks for your help, Lia.
Hi Debbie. Here is a video showing how to work with the SVG files. This is a few years old, and we are launching a new one next month, but it will show you the basics. https://liagriffith.com/craft-academy/how-to-use-files-cricut/
I finally cracked the code for my Cricut Air Explore 2!
B.L.G. (before Lia Griffith) I had given up on using the Cricut for anything other than a door stop. With this course I finally discovered the secret combo of steps that gives me beautiful clean cuts. I hope this helps anyone else struggling with this model.
1. Use the standard blade housing (the silver one) and not the deep cut one (it’s black).
2. Inspect your blade before every cut to make sure it’s clear of debris.
3. Inspect your mat to make sure it’s clear of debris and still sticky.
4. Use the rolling brayer to make sure the paper is completely adhered. (This step is important)
5. Use the Pearl Paper setting + “more” pressure.
6. Make a sacrifice to the Crafting gods (see tutorial on felt Billy Goat Stuffie) and cross your fingers. đ
Good luck!
Spot on! I just filmed ALL of these steps for our new Cricut class too. We are in sync, Paula!
How can I clear out the check marks from the completed lessons last time I took this class? I would like to follow along again and re-do some of the projects as well as make the magnolia branch, which I think may be new. Thank you!
We have re-set it for you. Enjoy the class!
Will you get chartreuse and burnt orange markers before the frosted paper Masterâs Class
We do not carry the Blick brand in our shop (I wish we could) and find that the alcohol-based work better than water-based for frosted paper.
I have a question, What brand of Art Marker is comparable to the Blick Studio Art Markers? Hopefully from your site or Micheals maybe. I don’t have a Blick Art Supply near me and as of today the 21st of January I am still waiting on supplies I ordered the first week of January for the Master Class. I’m trying to be proactive this time and have everything needed before the new class starts. Thank you for your help, Erin
P.S. I was thinking of Copic Sketch markers that are available at Micheals
Yes, they are similar.
You can use Copic markers, but they are more expensive. We carry Karin Brushmarker Pro in our shop as a replacement for Blick. They are the best waterbased marker out there. When we filmed this, we had not discovered them yet.
I really like the Michaels alcohol markers (Artist’s Loft) as a cheap alternative to other alcohol markers. The selection is not as big, but I’ve been collecting a few favorite colors and they perform great for paper flowers!
We are loving the Karin Brushmarkers, since they have that long fluid brush tip. I feel it is important to have the brush tip no matter which marker you use.
I put the frosted paper master class bundle in my cart. It provides just paper. Can you add spun balls and markers and adjust the price. Or maybe paper in one bundle, rest of materials in another
You can buy the bundle and add other materials you will need to your cart. đ
I cannot find the link to cutting the flower petals below the video, please help
Norma
Thanks for letting us know! We added the link to the page. Here it is also for you: https://liagriffith.com/craft-academy/cutting-frosted-paper-with-cricut/
I’m sorry if this is too nerdy a question but when you say natural branch are we looking for something a foot long or 3 feet long? Does it matter how big around?
It doesn’t matter the thickness really, just a visually pleasing branch. đ
Hi,
I enrolled in the class and excited! I ordered the Frosted Paper Bundle, but can’t find the order. Where can I find the order details with the tracking information?
Thanks!
So glad you’re excited! We just emailed you back but I wanted to make sure you saw it here too. You can find your order info here: https://feltpaperscissors.com/my-account/orders/. Here is some more info on shipping that might help: https://feltpaperscissors.com/shipping-returns/. Also I wanted to let you know that you can connect your membership account to your shop account to earn rewards points! Here is some info on that as well: https://liagriffith.com/craft-room/rewards/.
Would using the Cricut pens work instead of the fine point .07 markers mentioned? Are the pens you mentioned transparent like a highlighter?
The pens I listed are paint pens which means they are opaque. You can certainly try the Cricut pens and if you want a different look, go back and add the other.
where do I get the white sheets for anemone and gardenia. I have the berry pack and conifer pack
thank you
They are in the citrus pack.
What blade should I use for a cameo 4
I believe the standard/manual blade would work â here’s a list of materials and suggested tools for the different Silhouette machines: https://www.silhouetteamerica.com/tools
Hi,
After cutting paper for the amenomes, I have 1.5 sheets of white left. Will I need more? I would like to place an order. Thanks!
Hi! The anemones were set up to require 1 sheet, and the gardenias are set up to require 3.
Hi Lia
I have managed to cut the frosted paper once it was fine but since I have tried 3 more but it ripped some up while cutting. I used the cricut machine (explorer 3) I am not sure why it went wrong? Hopefully you can advise on this.
Tips & tricks: use a brand new blade, a very clean mat, and test the settings first (I like to draw a small star shape in Design Space). Someone on Facebook said she used the Pearl Paper setting with success.
My paper has been tearing, too. (I’m on a Maker.) I put a brand new blade in, as suggested, before starting this class. Do I need to put a new blade in before every single sheet? That will get pricey… 8(
You shouldn’t need a new blade for every cut! You will likely need to play around with the settings â some others have had success using the Pearl Paper setting.
I am having such a hard time. I tried pearl paper and it was worse wasting so much frosted paper. i am so sad and frustrated
I am so sorry to hear that. We try to assist you as much as possible with Cricut settings. That is why I created this mini-course, but there are so many components with the cutting machine that can vary your cuts. https://liagriffith.com/craft-academy/cutting-frosted-paper-with-cricut/
You can try using simple colored paper that is not heavy cardstock.
Iâm so happy we are doing one flower at a time. Thank You. Very excited to begin.
Hi! You have maker 3 as a recommended cutting machine. I have the original maker. It should still work the same, am I correct?
That’s just the affiliate link we have with Cricut â so yes, any cutting machine that works with SVG files and frosted paper will be just fine!
Can 8mm cotton spun balls be substituted for the 6mm balls? They are out of stock at this time
Yes, 8mm would work! You can also shop from Smile Mercantile who has 6mm in stock: https://www.smilemercantile.com/products/spun-cotton-balls
Hello! I’m having a hard time trying to find this paper in The Netherlands… Is there an alternative paper that I can use? Thanks in advance đ
Hi Karlaâ I’m not sure exactly what you’ll be able to find but frosted paper is also called pearlized or metallic in some places. We suggest lighter weight paper vs. cardstock!
Looking forward to this class! I would like to see a “checklist” of supplies needed that is printable.
A printable list will be included in the workbook, when we release Lesson 1 đ
Also, you can highlight the list here and “print selection” when you ask it print the page. Or copy the text onto a Word document and print from there. Or, take a picture with your phone.
Thanks for that tip, Jeanine!
Hi Lia,
I am confused about the art markers. Are they watercolors, or alcohol ink, or something different. When I looked at your link I couldn’t really tell for sure.
Thank you!
Lu Ann Rogers
Here’s a helpful description of Posca markers (https://www.dickblick.com/products/uni-posca-paint-markers/), and the Blick art markers (https://www.dickblick.com/products/blick-studio-brush-markers/). Posca markers are opaque and the color sits on top of the frosted paper vs. bleeding into it. Art markers are great all-purpose markers and we’ll use them to color the paper but also to color the cotton spun balls. As always, you do not have to buy everything on our list and can just use what you have on hand!
Shopping for Posca Art Markers, what size tip do you suggest? They come in fine, x-fine, broad chisel, and x-broad chisel.
The links will take you to exactly what we used, x-fine bullet tip đ
So looking forward to this class. I ordered all six of the packs when you first posted that there was going to be a frosted paper MC. So glad I did, the floral tape, bind wire and embroidery wood hoop are sold out. Will the shop be getting a shipment before the class starts?
Shipping times are a bit over the place right now (for us, and every other retailer it seems!) We hope to get more stock soon and will post as soon as we have news. Amazon is a great place to look for now.
Hi Lia, I canât print the material list on my iPad, and I have done many printing jobs from your website. I can do a screen print to send to you but I donât know how to attach it to my comment. What appears when I hit print is a completely different screen.
Hi Linda, it sounds like it’s an issue with the print setting on your iPad. I’d suggest taking a screenshot of the tools & materials list, then printing that instead of the web page itself.
Is there any way I can send you a screen shot? I donât see an attachment icon in the comments. What is interesting is that things I was once able to print all show the same preview image. I have deleted and reinstalled the print app and iPads do not have a lot of print settings.
No, we don’t have the option to include a screen shot in a comment. Maybe you could instead copy and paste the full list into a document and print that?
When I see this heading I have no problem printing. The photo tutorial printed just fine. However with both this list and the flower pictures all it says is liagriffith.com. Could this be the problem?
The link you pasted is the photo tutorial download (I deleted it from this comment, since it is for members only :-). The list and flower pictures you are referring to are pages on our site, not a download.
So sorry Iâve been such a pest. I am sure I could print the material list before without having to do a screen print. Hopefully the course content will be printable.
Iâve had no luck finding either pink spray. Can you suggest a substitute?
The pink spray has been difficult for most to find so we have removed it from the list. It’s a very minor addition that Lia will still show in the video but is not necessary to make the project!
Thanks for this masterclass. I canât wait to start making the flowers.
Iâd like to know how many 15mm cotton spun paper balls do we need, just to be sure I have enough.
And Iâm not able to get blick markers, do you have any suggestions for copic markers or brushmarkers from winsor and newton?
This are the bands I can get over here.
Thanks again, Lia and team.
You’ll just need one pack of 24 of the 15mm balls! I don’t know exact color replacements in those brands, but I would suggest comparing the colors to the color details in the Blick options online!
Hi Lia and team,
So glad to hear you will have simplified patterns for those of us cutting by hand! Iâm really looking forward to this class.
I’m glad you’re excitedâ it’s a good one!! đ
you going to do a bundle deal for the frosted paper class?
Hi Tina! We will have the frosted paper available as a bundle on July 9th, after the sale. Right now it is a much better deal to get 25% off all of the supplies you need with code 25JULY
Hi Lia. Do you have any alternative suggestions for those of us in Canada who are unable to purchase paper from your shop due to the large shipping cost to to get the merchandise here (Nova Scotia, Canada).
Many Thanks
Thanks Lia. I managed to find all the frosted paper on Amazon.ca. Usually they have a very limited supply but this time they had all that I needed. Looking forward to this class, loved the last Master Class.
I’m so glad to hear that, Marilyn!
We are continually working on shipping, and Canada is on our radar! Did you check Amazon Canada? There may be some other local shops but unfortunately we aren’t told who is selling what, so you could also check with your local craft stores.
Lia, I just found the materials list!
Hi – just finished the crepe paper class – I do not have a cutting machine. I see it is recommended. Will I be able to hand cut everything?
You can, though some of the patterns are VERY detailed and will be tricky to cut by hand. We can probably offer a simpler version of the really detailed ones, if you’d like!
That would be great, thanks! Looking forward to it.
Could you please tell me the difference between the Blick markers and the Posca markers? If I have the Blick makers close to the colors that the Posca markers are listed, will they work? It it just a name brand? Which ones do you prefer? Thank you.
Posca markers are opaque, and give a much more subtle color on the paper than the Blick art markers. You could use PanPastels instead of Posca markers if you wish.
What colors of the pan pastels will be used?
We’ll be using bright yellow green and magenta. Both of these colors are in our PanPastel set!
Hi Lia do you have amy altternative suggestions for thos who are unable to purchase paper from your shop please .
many thanks
Sue
Yes! We found this link for a reseller on Amazon UK. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B083W7PW3Q/ref=twister_B083Y2N5XP?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Hi Lia. So excited. Is there any chance that you will bring the paper packs to the UK please?
Thanks so much
Hi Sarah! There are some resellers offering these packs on Amazon UK. Here is a link: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B083W7PW3Q/ref=twister_B083Y2N5XP?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Hello Lia & Team, I am super excited for this new masterclass!! One quick question, can you tell us how much of each of the frosted paper packs we will be needing? Should we expect to use one full pack of each, or if I have at least half of each pack listed, should that be enough?
Thanks again for all the work you and the team do to put these masterclasses together to give us the skills to make such beautiful creations!!
Great question! We will update this page but here’s what you need:
Peony: 3 sheets per flower (5 flowers = 15 sheets). You can mix and match any of the melon pack.
Anemone: 1 white sheet for all 5 flowers
Gardenia: 4 white sheets for all 4 flowers
Hydrangea: 2 lavender sheets for 3 flowers and 1-2 sheets of green for 3 flowers
I’m so excited for this next class! I do have 2 questions:
Would you consider releasing the svg files ahead of the lesson so that we could already have a paper cut and ready to go when the lesson releases?
and
Do you ever mix frosted paper and crepe paper flowers in the same arrangement? I’m working an a tropical arrangement and love the new Bird of Paradise crepe paper flower, and also love the frosted paper Pincushion Protea. Just askin’!
Thanks for these classes and all your videos, etc.
Hi Sally! So happy you are joining us! I like to keep the SVG files with the video as it keeps things tidy and in order. Since these are pre-recorded videos, you can cut them before you watch then review the video as many times as you like. This is a bit different than the crepe paper class as I do create a full flower for every video. And YES! We do mix papers. Sometimes in the same flower. đ
Iâm so glad youâre doing one type of flower at a time for this class. I still havenât finished the crepe paper flower class, partly I think because I get bogged down in all the prep work with no ârewardâ. Pathetic of me, yes, but true I think. Iâll just keep enrolling for that one until I eventually finish, LOL!
The prep work for frosted paper flowers is definitely much quicker! We’re excited about this class.
So excited for the course! Two quick questions: the coupon code is not working for me in the shop, it says “Sorry, this coupon is not applicable to selected products.” and I only have items from the course in my cart.
Also, the Krylon Finishing Spray, should we be looking to get glossy or matte?
Thanks so much!
Hi Heather! So glad you’re excited. We fixed the issue with the coupon code right after you commented, so it should be working correctly now! For the finishing spray, you can use either one. They look pretty similar and we only dust it on.
