If you’re new to Macrame or want to brush up on your skills, we highly recommend our Macrame Knot Mini Course before you start. This Macrame & Paper Cedar Wreath combines several different crafting elements, so we consider it an intermediate-level project. Once you’re ready, just take a look at our list of tools and materials, and then away we go!

Macrame has a rich history dating back centuries. In fact, its origins trace all the way back to 13th-century Arabic weavers. Gaining modern popularity in the 1970s, macrame was known then as a mostly bohemian art form. However, its versatility has since stood the test of time, thus evolving into an elegant art-craft embraced by makers worldwide.

For this project, we’re celebrating Macrame’s wonderful versatility by combining it with the festive spirit of the holidays. First, we chose our cardstock in the color Pine Forest to achieve a deep, wintry green for our cedar branches. The bold contrast between rich green and the neutral macrame cord creates a piece that positively elevates any seasonal design scheme.

A 10-inch Macrame hoop provides the perfect foundation for your macrame knots and sturdy cedar leaves to work together in beautiful holiday harmony. Once complete, hang this beauty on your door and establish yourself as the chicest house on the block!

We love seeing all the ways you let your creativity shine and can’t wait to see what festive magic you bring to life this season. Please remember to share your Macrame & Cedar Wreaths with us in our crafters’ community or tag us on Instagram with the hashtag #MadeWithLia.
