Mounted Paper Blackberry Artwork
Black(berry) Beauty
While blackberries may be best known for their sweet summer fruit, a closer look reveals an entire world worth celebrating. Delicate white blossoms, richly colored berries, and layers of fresh green foliage inspired our Mounted Paper Blackberry Artwork. This three-dimensional botanical display is perfect for the upcoming shift to cooler weather and the gorgeous days of fall ahead.

Our Mounted Paper Blackberry Artwork is a mixed-media project that combines several of our favorite techniques. Firstly, cardstock creates the blackberry leaves and delicate white blossoms. Then, crepe paper, wire, and careful shaping help transform the individual pieces into a natural-looking branch. Lastly, the berries introduce an entirely different medium: clay
That mix of materials is where things start to get interesting. As you build each blackberry, colored pencil and PanPastel help create the subtle shifts in color you'd find in ripening fruit. Instead of making every berry identical, notice how the branch moves from rosy pomegranate tones toward those deep, nearly black shades. As a result, the finished paper blackberry branch captures several stages of the growing season in one small composition.
Rather than keeping everything tucked neatly inside the frame, we let the branch stretch naturally across a simple 7-inch embroidery hoop, allowing the negative space to become part of the design. The result is a piece of DIY botanical wall art that feels as though it was gathered straight from the garden.
Once your branch is complete, that compact frame makes it especially easy to style on a gallery wall, above a desk, or anywhere that could use a little touch of nature. Actually, why stop at blackberries? Create a nature-inspired trio by pairing your blackberry art with our Mounted Paper Blueberry Art and Mounted Strawberry Art for your own miniature paper berry garden.
Finally, we'd love to see where your Mounted Paper Blackberry Artwork ends up. So don't forget to share your finished piece with us in our crafters' community or on social media using #MadeWithLia.
FAQs
What skill level is this Mounted Paper Blackberry Artwork?
Because this project combines paper flower techniques, shaping, coloring, clay work, and dimensional assembly, it's best for intermediate makers comfortable working across several craft mediums.
Do I have to display this project in an embroidery hoop?
Not at all. The hoop creates a simple, modern frame, but you could also experiment with a shadow box or another open-backed frame that leaves enough room for the dimensional branch.
