VIDEO: Paper Alocasia Plant
Say alo to our new favorite plant
We have a new paper plant tutorial for you! Our paper alocasia is a striking plant that is simple to make and will look so gorgeous in your home. To show you just how easy this plant is to make out of paper, we have created a video tutorial for you to follow along.
Because the shapes are larger, this plant is a great one to cut by hand. But of course you can always use your cutting machine, if you prefer.

When making a plant out of paper, we always look at its main characteristics. Alocasia plants feature leaves that are shaped like arrowheads or hearts and have thick, white veins. Some varieties can also have more color in their leaves, so you can always play around with your colors if you want to get more creative with this project.
To recreate these details, Meagan used a white paint marker and also drew on additional lines with a dark green marker. This along with using our frosted green paper makes our plant look more realistic.
Skill level: Beginner
Crafting tip: Shape the leaves using a curling tool before the Mod Podge fully dries.

I’m wondering how to keep my colors from blending. The white paint pen is picking up the dark green underneath. I’ve tried doing multiple layers, tried putting down a layer of fixative between the colors, but it’s still blending. Help!
Are you using the Posca marker and our frosted paper? If you are using non-coated paper it might bleed.
Curious what size the pot is in the photo?
It’s 5×5 🙂
