Cosmos flowers are one of the joys of late summer and my paper cosmos flowers make it possible to enjoy these pretty blooms all year round. Real cosmos come in literally hundreds of different colors, but one of my favorites has to be the chocolate cosmos with it’s deep, dark red and burgundy petals – the perfect Fall flower. For this paper flower I used a rich red and a plum metallic text weight paper. I added a bit of visual texture by using a similar color art marker on both the petals and the leaves. Scoring the petals helps to give a more realistic look and by gently curling the tips of the petals you can add a depth and definition that is rarely found in paper flower designs.

Use floral wire and floral tape for your stems and you can create a display that is perfect for your Fall home decor. To make these beautiful paper cosmos flowers you will need to be a member to download the pattern at the foot of this page and follow the tutorial below. If you are using a cutting machine click the SVG file and if you are cutting by hand then download the PDF and trim the pattern using scissors or a craft knife.

I always love to see my paper flower designs out there in the wild so if you make my chocolate cosmos then please do share your pictures with me on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram using the @liagriffith tag. See you there! ~ Lia
